Hi All - was looking into the Arsenal SGL-61s and came across the Izhmash Saigas made by Legion USA, the IZSL-332A (http://legionusainc.com/izsl-332a-saiga-rifle-7.62-x-39.html)...

The prices and features seem to be comparable with Arsenal and wondering the reputation of the Legion AK47s?

There is an incredible small amount of info on Legion out there.

Are the Legions comparable to the Arsenals?

Thanks!

In my limited experience owning both an Arsenal and a Legion, the Arsenal is a tad more accurate. Both are well made and you can't go wrong with either.

Legion is the importer, they are both the same rifle before conversion. The Arsenal will have nicer furniture, and better fit and finish. Either one should be equally accurate, and dependable.

I'm not sure the same Saigas are used first off, Arsenal's come from Legion which is Izhmash's custom shop. This US company is ripping off their name in an attempt to say they are the same thing. This company is using sporting Saigas as their base. If you own an Arsenal you will see no welding of holes or refinishing on the receiver.

Second, a quick look at the picture, Arsenal has no extra holes in the receiver; this company is just plugging them with rivits. Arsenal's furniture is a lot nicer, and closer to the real thing, than the tapco stuff this company is using. Arsenal uses the correct gas block with accessory lug. Arsenal uses the correct Russian FSB, not a Bulgarian one. Arsenal will have Izhmash markings, the other company doesn't. Arsenal uses a US copy of he newer Russian brake, not a Bulgarian one. And last Arsenal uses the correct rear sight and dust cover.

Sorry, Arsenal is still the better AK103 copy at only $30 more. ETA: Aimsurplus has the 21s for $799 so they are the same price; no brainer, Arsenal is better.

since Arsenal just back with another Bulgarian SLR107 rifle I would look hard at that one, if you can get your hands on it.
