Let me start off by saying that I'm not new to the reloading, but have come across I have yet to see.

I'm working on a new load for my daughters rifle, so she can shoot F-Class with me. It's a .243 Win. I plan to use 87gr v-max over 4000-MR.

However, when I look at Alliants website like I normally do, I see they show max at 45.5gr for the 85gr bullet (Speer I believe). When I look in the Hornady 9th edition manual (85gr-87gr bullets), it shows 47.2gr. Both show for 3300fps (not really concerned about this part.

This is the first time I've run across this where the manual was actually higher than the powder manufacture.

Anyone have experience with this powder. How it acts, etc?

My daughter will be shooting these loads, main reason for taking precautions. I have also emailed both Hornady and Alliant for verification. TIA

Darn, I thought you were going to have some results to share with us. I've been looking at giving that powder a try, but I've been waiting for someone to provide their assessment first. I've read what Alliant says about it though, and it sounds like a potential winner.

I load a bunch of .243 win., so please share your findings when you start working with it, or after you have completed a couple developments with it.

Sorry I couldn't help though.

Not yet, but I will. I'm going to try and get out this weekend to shoot the workup. Didn't get any hits, so I'll just do the workup and do what I normally do and use the Hornady manual for the workup. If I have to pull bullets then so be it. I have a collet bullet puller. Lol

I currently use 2000-MR in my .308 for a 1000yd load. Great accuracy and velocity to get the job done. I'll send you some results when I get the 4000-MR done.

I've used it in 300RUM. I equate it to a magnum version of Varget. It pushes as fast as RL25 with slightly less powder.

Never used it in 243. I hope it works well for you.

I wonder if it acts like 2000-MR, and gets more accurate the further you work up the ladder to the hotter side of things?

Jw, haven't used that powder yet,but looking forward to your results in the 243 win.

I've got alittle more time before my oldest is shooting long range, just starting to shoot the 243, getting ready for deer season this year.

Awesome. Our gun season is over down here already. That's the only reason I'm testing new loads. Should be around 50-60 down here this Saturday.

I'll be sure to post a range report when I get back and get everything cleaned up since it looks like a few folks are interested in it.
