This is a quote from Representative Tim Griffin from Arkansas in response to Obama's press conference today.

"Like most Arkansans, I’m concerned about our nation’s treatment of mental illness, our increasingly crude and violent culture, and a criminal justice system that allows repeat offenders to roam the streets. While some of President Obama’s proposals address these issues, his focus on restricting the rights of law-abiding citizens with tried-and-failed, anti-Second Amendment policies is poll-tested but counterproductive. I am the father of two young children, and I am interested in solutions to curb the violence that plagues America, but I’m not interested in feel-good legislation that leaves our children no safer and Americans less free. The so-called ‘Assault Weapons Ban’ did not stop the Columbine tragedy, and no gun control proposal I’ve seen could have made the deranged Connecticut murderer obey the law when he stole firearms and committed his unspeakable rampage"

Make sure to really lean hard on your Reps, the house is where we have the best chance of defeating these bans. I called his office after I read this and told the operator I wanted to thank him and encouraged him to take leadership in defeating these bans.

I got a very similar response from Griffin. Most encouraging was that it wasn't verbatim what you wrote, e.g. a form letter. I also saw your what you posted regarding Boozman's response.

I got a form letter from Boozman, no reply from Pryor, and a combo form letter with personal answers to my specific questions, from Congressman Womack. A stand-up guy. It will be interesting to see if it was just window dressing, or he has some teeth to backup what he wrote.

That wasn't a reply from Griffin. That was a quote from his website. I heard him saying it on the radio as well.

I live in Conway and have contacted everyone of my reps multiple times. The only one I am really worried about is Pryor though. Still haven't heard back from him. Guess I need to keep calling and emailing. It is going to be mostly the south and west that beat this thing. We all need to stand up and make sure we are heard.

I just talked to Senator Pryor's office and they said he has put out a press release. I can't find the copy yet, but they said it would be on his website later. I will post it when I see it.

It sounds like he is against any types of bans. From what the person at his office was reading me it sounded like he wanted to focus on enforcing laws that are already on the books.
