Some might remember DICK's quote a week or two ago about how he planned on using presidential orders "when he was president" to "fix" any wrong thing that the Supreme Court might decide upon...in effect saying that the judicial branch of the US government meant nothing and that only the executive branch, with him as benevolent dictator, really mattered.

Well, I was just watching C-Span and heard another brilliant quote...

DICK was in Iowa campaigning and he said that "as president, I would use the powers of government to help people be self-sufficient". This was met with resounding applause from the herded Democrats there.

Is it just me, or is that simple statement not worthy of applause simply by its degree of stupidity?

No, no, it's a good thing. It means he's going to end Social Security, medicare, medicaid, farm subsidies, and all forms of government welfare. And the people rejoiced!

I'm sorry, but when he says self-sufficient, he means able to fill out aid forms w/o having to ask the drone behind the counter at the local relief office.

Oxymoron!

"Jumbo Shrimp"
"Military Intelligence"

"Government supported self sufficiency"

There are so many things wrong with his statement, I'm not even sure where to begin.

All of this falls under the category of artificially enhanced political campaign rhetoric. Say anything to anybody to get applause for the cameras.

Consider my approach to all this stuff. When my kids were dating I decided not to even try and remember any last names until they had been around at least 6 months. It saved space in mybrain for important stuff, like which fishing lure to use for Walleye or the point gap on one of my old cars.

I am now doing the same thing with the Demo hopefuls. I'll pay attention to it after they have survived for 6 months.
