Any chance of a full-size, single stack, polymer handgun?

Just like the title says. I've really come to enjoy the various polymer framed, striker fired handguns for their light weight, high capacity, and excellent reliability. I'm also pleased that the gun companies are really turning out alot of new, decent CCW pistols on a regular basis. One thing I've always wanted though was a single stack (preferably .45), polymer framed gun, on a FULL size frame. The new Shield and XDS is cool, but I'm not really looking for a pocket gun. I guess what I'd really like is a .45 that carries like my 1911, with the weight, reliability, and ease of maintenance of my Glock. So what say you HighRoaders? Am I alone in my desire for this pistol? Do you think I'll ever see an XDS type gun with a full grip and 4" or 5" barrel?

No.
Spray & Pray is here to stay!

If it doesn't hold a half box of ammo, it won't get you a nose-bleed seat at a decent gun fight.
Or in retail sales.

Until the X-Box hero starts using a gun like that, we won't see one selling well enough to make it a commercial success.

Many of us have wished for a standard slide length, single stack, thin & trim gun like the old 1908 Hammerless Model Colt to be made again.

Nothing today in the abbreviated barrel length pocket guns with 1" thick slides and 1 1/2" thick grips comes close for easy CCW with accuracy combined.

Thanks JTQ. I thought someone would probably come along with something I had missed. Currently researching the P345. I do vaguely recall something about it being reviewed on one of the tv shows when it first came out. From what I remember what they said was positive, but it sure seemed to have fallen off the radar fast. I guess the Ruger "P" series just doesn't generate much excitement. That and it seems a little overly lawyer friendly. I'm less than enthused about the magazine disconnect, but I'm gonna research it anyway.

Kahr T series guns seem more commander sized to me, but still a duty-sized pistol.

The RRA polys seem kinda interesting. The profile of the dust cover reminds me of the BUL M5, which has fitment issues in some holsters, in my experience. Also, with +p loads, my M5 (with a kimber rollmark) recoils a lot like a hot 10mm when I'm down to the last few rounds of the magazine - cant say I'm too crazy about that. Especially with the purchase of a soft shooting STI Spartan.

Isn't the new taurus 845 a single stack?
It may be thin for a double-stack 45, but with a 12+1 capacity, its not a single stack...

Of course JDGray, what model Glock are you showing?

How's the P345 look compared to the full size Glock in .45 ACP, the G21? Is the P345 smaller than the G21? I'd say yes. However, I'll agree I wouldn't call the P345 a compact, mid-sized maybe since it is Commander size.

Out of all the suggestions I think the P345 actually looks the best. I prefer the blued slide however. How wide is it? Has it been reliable for you JDGray?

Are you after a slim grip profile, or just have a thing for single stacks? Have you looked at the polymer framed Walthers? P99, PPS, PPQ. I don't think they make a.45, but they might provide a slim grip profile.

Sounds like you have a chip on your shoulder. I will take a guess and say that most gun owners don't play video games.

As long as you install the recoil spring the correct way, and keep it wet, it never missed a beat. I traded this gun years ago so I can't measure the width, but about the same as the G19 in the picture. The grip is way narrower however, and fits like a glove. I wish I had that gun back, as it was as accurate as any 45 I've owned:)

Both pistols have a 4" barrel, and are considered by each respective manufactur, "compacts"

And all this time I thought video games were a good thing because they have created a whole new generation of firearm enthusiasts. ;)

Ruger refers to my 4.2" KP90 as a "compact." Not sure what their "full size" would be like!
Good point. IMO, if you would see it in a uniformed officer's holster, its not a compact.

Different standards for different folks I guess. Some folks think my Caprice is good on gas because its gets 24mpg on the highway. Others think its a gas guzzler.

@ wild cat mccane - there isn't anything uglier than a Glock ... IMHO

It's not a compact, as said.

But I love my Ruger P345

Remember you can't dry fire it w/o a snap cap or it'll break.

That's about the only way to break one - they are good guns.

One of the most accurate guns I've owned.

The P90 has a 4.5" barrel, and I don't think Ruger ever called it a compact. The P97 has a shorter barrel and may have been called a compact.
