I am interested in a "one powder for cartridges" IMR 4001 advertises this and I would like to know if any one has tried it yet.
Presently I use Unique for all pistol rounds and Reloader 15 for 8mm, 30-06 and 308,but am not satisfied with it yet. My best ever groups with 30-06 was loaded with IMR4064. I'm going back to it. Any comments welcome. Blitz:D

Do you refer to IMR4007ssc or is there now a 4001 (?).
I use IMR4007 now in my 7-08 and love the stuff. It is very fine grained and flows well in my measure. I also get very good velocities and accuracy with it.
Here are a couple targets with various loads shot useing IMR4007ssc

I don`t know about useing it in your cartridges I haven`t tried it in those yet.

Sorry about the "1" .

It is 4007 and sounds really good. I'm getting old and using one powder sounds safe somehow.:D thanks, Dave

Have you tried IMR (or H) 4895 for those calibers? It works very nicely for me when bullet weight is 170 grains or less. It even works well for 180 and 190 but starts to give up a little accuracy.

My current rifle powder is Benchmark, and it works for light bullets (extremely well for .223) but it's a little too fast for heavier bullets, so I think I'll move to 4350 or R19 or 4831 and see how the slower powders work for me. Right now 4350 is by far the best powder in my 270 with 130 grain soft point. I'm able to shoot occasional one-hole groups of 3 at 100 yards. Maybe it works for 30 caliber too. Have you considered Winchester ball powders? Very flexible and they meter like a dream.

Thanks for the input

Good to share other 's experiences with different powders. I generally shoot heavy bullets 240gr 30-06 and 200gr 8Mm mauser, and 175gr 308. I'm juggling different powders looking for a 1600 meter shot in 30-06. I finely got the speed with RL 15 but list accuracy. So far the best was IMR 4064, which gave me a round transsonic just beyond 1300 meters but grouped in one hole at 100 meters. Very smooth recoil and great grouping make me belive I'll return to that recipe. It's good to hit what you're shooting at at 1600 meters. I'll probably not achieve that unless I go to 338 Lapua. ah but that's another dream. Thank for the shared info. I had been looking at RL-19 also. Blitz

Best of luck in your quest. I just wish my old eyes and feeble hands could shoot 1600 meters. Maybe I should try it anyway. Heavy bullets and slow powders sound appealing. Thanks, 1200.
