Are SIgs worth the price

That beaver tail looks a little too serious and i'm not really feeling the rosewood grips.

This is more of my style!

There are many reliable pistols out there. I think the better approach is to try and few and see what feels good in your hand. For me personally, the Sig feels really good in my hand, in fact better than any other brand (a 1911 might be an exception). IMO that feel in your hand is very important. I have shot other pistols as well extensively that just don't feel as good in my hand no matter how long I've used them. As such, they are much more likely to sit in the safe and the Sig comes out. Don't stress too much over the price, $400 ammounts to around 1,000 rounds of ammo. Not insignificant but not that big of a deal either.

you dont see too many sigs running ISPC matches at full speed.

While you guys are playing games with your toy guns, the SIG is taking care of business! :neener:

Mine was worth the price and I've never regretted buying it. I like the quality, the reliability and the accuracy.

DEAHEAT,
Nice pair of pistols. If you shoot them as good as you say I am impressed. You should step back to 25 yards and see if you can shoot holes threw holes. But that knife. Really, Did you buy that at wally world from the big barrel? I have one also. Had it for 35 years. Bought it when I was a teen. It still has the fishing hooks and matches in the screw off compass. The saw broke many years ago.
I may be in south Florida in the late spring, I would be interested in your challenge to a SIG & S&W shoot off.
Here in Minnesota we shoot for money. A dollar a point sounds good, How about some steel plates or some pepper poppers. I trained at Mid South with John Shaw. In the 80's and I love the shooting sports. Maybe you would like to do a 3 gun match? Do you have a re-loader or should I bring my own ammo. I have about 1,000 9mm in stock but that will last one day as I shoot 500 just to practice. I can start to make more . I have maybe 10,000 empty brass on hand. Should I bring my very tricked out 586?
I shoot a Sig 225. And at 7 yards it is always a ragged hole the size of your palm. Not your girl friend as she has bigger hands then you.

It's funny, I own 2 Sigs, but still struggle with this same question. Honestly, they don't do anything that my Glock's can do just as well for $300 cheaper. I do love Sigs though... it's kind of like comparing a Honda to a Cadillac. Sure, the Honda gets you there just the same for a lot less money. But the Caddy gets you there with class, style and sophistication. I think that's what people pay for with Sig.

Interesting Story: When my Dad worked plain clothes with the State Police, they were issued S&W 10mm semi-autos to evaluate. So many complaints of jamming and other problems... they turned to Sig Sauer. Subsequently, he and his fellow agents were issued the P228 in 9mm. They all liked them so much nobody wanted to give them back. When he finally retired, they told him he would have to either turn it in or purchase it because of tax reasons. In light of over 30 years service, they let him purchase it for the price of one dollar!

I've shot it numerous times (which also means I have to clean it). Compared to my Beretta 92FS, I think the quality of the parts and finish are very similar. It's a little more top heavy, which makes the percieved muzzle flip a little more pronounced when I shoot it.

Is it worth the extra money? Depends on what you can get it for. I don't think I would pay $600 for one. But for a dollar? :D Absolutely!

@ GORDY:

I think I got one of those knives at a flea market when I was ten or so. They had them in black and in camo. Had a couple waterproof matches, a cheesy cable saw, a couple fishhooks and some fishing line, and a couple cheap bandaids in the handle under the compass- that never worked right. Whatever steel they used didn't take an edge either. Whaddaya want for $8?

Are Sigs worth the money- that depends. I like Sigs, I've shot them for over 15 years and I like and prefer the DA.SA with decocker operation. I like the feel and weight of a Sig better than apolymer gun with the exception of teh Springfield XD feels good to me too. I carry my Sigs and prefer the single-stack designs- the P220, P225 and P239 are all my regular carries. The weight and size is a good balance in my hands and shooting style. I could go double stack P229/P228 compact in about the same size as a P225 but the gun is heavier with teh extra ammo and doesn't handle as well to me.

Ultimately, what it comes down to is how good a deal can you work for the gun you want. I know I can get LEO trade-in Sigs which are well kept and hardly shot for close to the price of a new M&P or XD so cost isn't a big deal breaker.
