My fun gun is definitely my Walther P88, and the fact that it is so accurate doesn't hurt. I only have one rifle right now and that is my Bushy Dissipator. It is a very fun gun as well.
Last night I was given the opertunity of a lifetime. I had some Spec-War friends leave today, and they had their going away party last night. They had just about anything you could imagine for personal guns. I got to shoot an MP5, a .50 cal sniper rifle, an auto that resembled an uzi, but I didn't catch the name of it, and then a bunch of "normal" guns. It was the best night I have had in a long time. We broke out an old Point Blank bullet proof vest that was laying around, and decided to see what it would stop. It took 36 rounds of .45 ACP on one side from the furthest distance of 7 yarsds, and over 60 9MM rounds on the other side, and only had one penetration. The penetration was caused by hitting the vest too low, and not actually getting the round into the Kevlar. Like I said, it was the best night I have had in a while
I liked bripping away with an MP5-PDW, but it was a lot more satisfying to:
(A) Vapourise an X-ring with a 1911
(B) Actually group my shots shooting for the first time in a decade with a Beretta.
(C) Hearing Lendringser pronounce "Not bad." High praise
(D) Watch Tam make plasma-pulses downrage with illuminated rounds. Damn, looked like a beam-weapon firing!
I get a kick (pardon the pun) out of my Garand and my Colt Gold Cup, but for pure fun, nothing beats the Lyman Great Plains Rifle or the Navy Arms 1860 Army revolver. They speak with authority, and the "ooh, cool!" factor at the range is way up there.
Slinger-
Don't get me started on those big, beautiful '51's, man. I could listen to that sound all day!
Tired of 'lurking'. My favorite guns to just shoot are my .45's. A Kimber Custom II, LlamaMax-I and a Mini-Max. Those and my SKS's. I love the feel of .45 recoil and the utter 'functionality' (is that a word) of these weapons.
Every time I open my gun safe and hear Samuel L. Jackson's voice in my head say "AK-47!!" (you know the rest). That one with its PSO 8x42 scope and a 30 rounder mag gives me the best satisfaction.
My Steyr M40 gives me similar feelings and, like Bog, I'm seeing the groups tighten up and found my fav. pistola, using my own ammo.
My other firearms don't have anything to worry about though.
I'd have to say my .22lr bolt action rifle. It was my Dad's first gun about 50 years ago. (Also my first gun.) I've had friends tell me that rifle makes them feel like a sniper. I guess the 4x scope and bi-pod help in that manner.
For a handgun I'd say my P22 over my 9mm. Probably because it still has the "newest gun" factor.
Although I like magnums shot tight for accuracy, I have more fun with light loads from big guns, sometimes.
My Springield '03 .35 Whelen loaded with my handload 180 g. .357 pistol bullet handloads at about 3/4 velocity of the standard 225gr. or 250gr. loading, is just PHUN. Shooting the regular load is BANG!!! Shooting these loads is Pow! Brings a big silly grin.
Light 130 gr. FMJ handloads through my 6" Colt Officer's Model Special .38 Special heavy barrel are super fun to shoot. The pistol is huge for the caliber, and is capable of loads equal to light Magnums, but this light load is just a blast to pop-pop-pop. The grin spreads.
An accurate group of slugs through any shotgun never ceases to make me grin.
Any group through a .50 BMG rifle makes me smile.
High-powered rifles at sealed cans of expired peas are super-phun.
Full-caliber pistols at man-sized targets on a dusty hillside at over 300 yards is always fun: Bang! ...dust kicks up... Plop!
