Count for AR down to one. Count for FAL up to two.

Yep I like them FALs.

Anyone here got one?

I've got 2 and love them. The Imbel para carbine is my favorite. Once the AWB sunsets I can remove the bushing and the stock will swing shut. It's a sweeeeeet rifle. The full length is a DSA SA-58. Both are among the best-made firearms I own (along with my SIG handgun). Utterly reliable.

I've got an Imbel built by Ohio Rapid Fire and I absolutely love it. I'm really hoping that the ban goes away because then I can build another one with a folding stock, 16" barrel and all the "evil" features I want.

One Entreprise StG58-C, half a dozen mags, lots of ammo. Molon Labe! :D

Need to get back to the range with that puppy. Been having too much fun with my other newer toys.

iamkris,

that imbel para is more fun than a crashup derby. to me it's the perfect battle rifle. I got it from a nice gentleman on the falfiles who built it himself. He did a good job. I got lucky (from a time standpoint) and didn't have to go thru the process of assembling all the parts for it. I highly recommend getting one.

I just got my first one yesterday, its a DSA STG58A with a first generation Springfield scope & DSA mounts & rings and ten magazines. I ordered two cases of Australian .308 fron Dan's ammo for $125/case, shipping was $32.00. Really appears to be a well made gun. Will try it out tomorrow.

I spend a lot of time here, it seems, saying how much I love my FAL and posting these photos. But since everyone else is, I'll join in. Never fails, and more accuracy than I can usually shoot to.

The lump on the handguards is a Glock light. The Streamlight plastic rail for AR-15s fits quite neatly into the vents on FAL handguards with hardly a mark when you remove it. I suggest it highly.

TAPCO butt and pistol grip, para flipover rear sight, DSA matched trigger bits. The bolt in the bottom photo is from my PSS.

I've bought the paint to green up the stocks so they all match, and lightly camo them if I can get it to work right. If so, I will post photos later.

I've got an M1A which I love, but I've always been curious about the FAL. How much did you folks pay for your FAL, and how accurate is it at 100 yards (of course, please specify if ammo was surplus, new factory or handloaded, so that I can compare apples to apples)?

Thanks, in advance, for your input.

I use port, south african and radway 308 surplus in mine. I just put a Leupold 3.5x10x40 scope, with a DSA heavy duty scope mount on my DSA SA-58 and I was a little disappointed by the results. I was expecting maybe 4 inch groups at worst and it was more like 6 or 7 inch groups at 100 yards. That was only one outing with port ammo though, I still need to fiddle with some things. The FAL can be accurized somewhat by having a very tight locking shoulder, remove the muzzle brake, maybe add some free floated hand guards, etc. I would expect mine to shoot about 4 MOA, and I need to get it to the range a few more times to test it out. Some people report having very accurate FALs. I've never seen one, in the 4 that I've shot. My VEPR and Danish M1 are more accurate than this FAL. But that doesn't really bother me, because it's a battle rifle and am willing to accept non-match accuracy in it, for the increased functionality, dependability and durablility.

Edit: Oh, I paid $850 for my DSA and $1130 for the para (transfer fees, shipping included). My DSA mount was $75, Leupold QD rings $80, and scope was free from an uncle!

My ORF built FAL will shoot around 2 MOA. It only cost me $560 and I've got a cheap scope mount on it. I would however like to get one of DSA's or Tapco's scope mounts because when I shoot prone my face is too close to the scope and my current mount wont let me mount the scope further forward.

Sadly, I must admit that I'm FAL-less.

AR count: One.
FAL count: Zero.

I hope to retify this terrible situation soon..

.. just don't ask for a specific time and date. :uhoh:

I've got an STG-58 built on an Imbel receiver. Tapco SAW stock. No pics yet, but I love it. It's the only rifle I have that's actually worth anything :uhoh: Everything else is <$350.

I've got;
#1, a 1962 Lithgow L1A1 in original condition with a double flip-up "Hythe" rear sight...(large apeture....night / small apeture....day) also a Trilux / SUIT scope (4 power)
Shoots around 3" with Aussie F4 ball ammo....open sights.

#2, a 1961 L1A1 original with early pattern wooden furniture and carry handle.
Also shoots around 3"

#3, 1963 "A catagory" (short magazine, custom thumb-hole stock, no flash hider......like a California gun!) Tricked out in black and pale grey livery, has a muzzle brake.
Shoots around 2" on a good day.

#4, 1962 L1A1 in the process of being accurised....24" free floated match grade heavy barrel, versa-pod, DSA scope mount, PSG style tactical butt and grip from "Weapons Art", short magazine and maybe a Super Sniper x10 scope from SWFA or an IOR Valdarta x4 with illuminated reticle. Will be doing some work on the trigger and the locking-latch, also the feed ramp.

Most of my shooting mates have L1A1s or FALs.......some stg 58s and German G1s, there are a few R1s over here too.

Now we are having trouble getting our usual Aussie F4 surplus ammo..........aparently you Americans are buying it all!!
