The nail polish trick will be useful if you decide to go with the original G10 Manix 2 (which, again IS a great knife, and incredibly strong). Should you go with the Tenacious or Persistence, the G10 is less abrasive, for some reason, so you shouldn't need it. 
It sounds like the H1 Dragonfly might be a good choice for you. The Dragonfly is a little knife that cuts like a much larger one.
