I picked up a Browning Buckmark at a gunshow this weekend, and can't seem to find anything about it. It has a 10" bull barrel that seems to be factory,it is marked Browning.Anyone seen one of these before?

Most Excellent!

Shoot with the accuracy of a rifle! Sometimes ammo semsitive...Usually like CCI Minimag. Sometimes the triggers are a bit stiff.
You should be happy with it unless it is for concealed carry! :D

Sounds like a Silhouette or a Varmint. (The Silhouette having a wood fore end under the bull barrel, the Varmint just a bare bull barrel.)

Everything behind the barrel is pretty much the same as any Buckmark with an adjustable (overtravel) trigger, IIRC.

I take that back. It could have the older slide assembly. A simple observation to determine this is to see if it has extensions on the sides of the slide near the back end. IIRC, they should be the older slide as they were dropped from the lineup before the revision in 2001.

Here's the Buckmark manual (current)

hksw,
You mention the overtravel regarding the BB.
I have 2, Glocks that I use 22 kits. The one is a Ciener and other is a Advantage Arms.
They are easily used between the 17 and the 22 Glocks.

My 17 is a 3 pound pull and my 22 is 5 pound pull (trigger)

The 5 is shorter but harder, the 3 is lighter but longer.

I noticed it quite a bit more using the AA (length of pull) than the Ciener.

What kind of pound pull are we talking about on the BB and Ruger Mk111?

What are (pull) the other fine shooters, that are used for plinking and not match?

The fact is these barrels are both 4" I believe if they had a 6" they would be really good shooters. As it is, they are not bad probabaly 1.5 at 10yds...really trying.

The makers of these units might go to a longer barrel but right now all I have been able to get are the short ones. I believe if they went to a longer barrel they would be less sensitive to the ammo out there. As it is now the 40 grn. hi vel (1250 fps) is the best thing going, if you drop below that weight you are in trouble. The extra 2 inch and the time in the barrel might allow you to have a better reliability factor. :uhoh:

Good find, damascus. The Browning Buckmark is a fine target gun and you will find many, many happy owners with only positive things to say. Search the forums and you should find numerous topics on the Buckmark pistols.

I'll have to get back on the trigger pull weights and do it tomorrow. Don't have a MkIII but do have a couple MkIIs (one, a Great 8, I haven't shot and the other, a KMK10, I did work on the sear notch of the hammer and overtravel screw on a little so will have an advantage over my Buckmarks, a Standard, a Bullseye, and an Unlimited which have stock triggers with the only adjustments being the overtravel - excluding the Standard which doesn't have that feature).

I have a Camper model (5.5" barrel) and it's quite accurate when I do my part. I can only imagine how accurate a 10" barrel must be. It took me a while to figure out that it likes to be pretty clean to run well (unlike my Glock). Same goes for the magazines.

It's a very fun pistol to shoot.

OK, my Buckmark Standard is running ~4.5 lbs, the Bullseye about ~3.25 lbs, the Unlimited about ~3.0 lbs. My Mk II 10" is at ~4.0 lbs (this is the one with a little work on the sear notch of the hammer) it actually 'feels' a little less as I have the trigger stop adjusted for minimal overtravel. (NOTE : The Mk IIs all have adjustable overtravel. They are just hard to get at requiring significant disassembly, but not total, of the frame internals and Ruger does not advertise it.) The Great 8 is running about ~4.75 lbs. [Lyman Digital Trigger gage]

Forgot to mention, the earlier Target models of the Buckmark (Target, Silhouette, Varmint, etc.) also had limited pull weight adjustment.

So my 3 lb is pretty light. Thanks

I find that very informative, I was sure they would be quite a bit lighter.
