Was it a quality issue or just not the gun for you?

Maybe a little of both. Wasn’t as accurate as I preferred and the heft, though good for a 10MM, just didn’t really go with its intended use out in the field. Ended up sticking to the G20.

Love 1911’s in .45 ACP for CCW, especially my Kimber Pro Carry.

I had the double stack RIA and the one I got was a lemon. I sent it back to them and it was still a dud when it came back. The gun store I got it from wound up taking it back off my hands. I won't purchase another RIA handgun because of that experience. Not so much because I got a lemon, every company can ship out bad product, but more so because they didn't even attempt to fix it, just shipped it back.

I can’t say, but my Taylor’s and Co. 1911 10mm is superlative...
Same here ... I am unfamiliar with the Girsan, but the ($379) Rock Island-made Taylor's & Co. 10mm is the cat's meow.
If I were to guess, the reason for the low price was because it shipped with two USELESS KCI 45 ACP mags:mad: ... after ordering Mec-Gar 10mm & 40 S&W magazines, I took a hammer to & then tossed those KCIs.

In addition to the M-G mags, I picked up an RIA 40 S&W barrel & guide rod kit; removed the magwell; added an arched MSH; installed a flat bottom FP stop & finally, replaced the red front sight rod with a green one.

The $379 may be the best money I have ever spent on a pistol, as the Taylor's 10/40 1911 is extremely accurate & with those Mec-Gars, it runs like a scalded dog.

That's not a bad idea either, just buy one and upgrade what's subpar

Ive had to RIAs, probably getting a third. I dislike single stack 1911s, so all of mine are doubles, but otherwise same/same....Ive not done more then handle a Girsan, and to my limited experience I couldnt find anything that would outwardly make me prefer one over the other besides the size of the grip.
Ill say this about the RIAs is the big one ive got has gone thru a couple thousands of stoutly loaded rounds with no noticeable wear or issues. Accuracy is good, and im not great with a handgun.

Tisas?
Yeah, Got THREE!

.45 and two 9’s.
.45 is straight 1911A1;Shoots great. Feeds everything.
9mm M1911 U.S. Army (dk green); Only shoots RN ball type ammo, but shoots well otherwise.
9mm “Duty” Loaded. Real ringer! Solid! Shoots great. Feeds everything.

Like the bargain deals on mil surplus of years gone by, these are the “deals” of our days.

I think of them as savings bonds I get to shoot!
Get them while you can.

Yes, Tisas has a 10mm.

I have the same RIA as North. It's a great shooting 1911. Oh and if you plan to reload. Make sure you rig something up to catch the brass. They throw it like a min 14.
Are there 10 mms that don't??? I had a couple of EAAs Witness models and even after putting in a heavier recoil spring, the brass flew forever. One of the reasons I got out of that caliber...

I have no experience with a 10mm 1911 but I can say that my two 45ACP and one 9mm/38 Super 1911s from RIA have pretty high round counts without any issues. I bought my 3.5" Compact RIA used so who knows what the true round count is with it.

I'd pick a rock island if given the choice. I have a girsan regard six (m9 clone) and it has been good so far. Only because they've been at it longer and I have more experience with them.

Having said that there's that other company Tias outta Turkey I believe. Thier guns have been getting great reviews and going for what rock islands used to. I'm thinking one of their commander length 1911s will be in my safe by 2024.

Looking around on the web I find RIA 1911 10 mm GI stripped down model selling for around $450. The Tisas I found were the D10 model with more bells and whistles in the $700 range. Perhaps I didn’t look in the right places
