After spending the week researching and hand-wringing over the decision to get the CZ 527 in .223 or 7.62x39, I decide come Monday morning,I'm going with the .223/5.56 I wanted in the first place.
I didn't want to place the order on-line over the weekend, since my VISA debit account didn't have the funds,so I was going drive down into town and put the money in first thing Monday (today), and then place the order.
Well, first thing this a.m. I see that Buds went and jacked the price from $552 delivered, to $604 .
So I decide to give them a call, explain my situation and hope they'd work with me. The lady on the phone was as nice and helpful as she was able to be, short of honoring the earlier price. While I was on hold ( caller #17:mad:) the pre-recorder jabber mentioned that their prices are adjusted every 20 minutes, and recommended customers keep checking for the best possible price.
I don't check their website frequently enough to know, so can anyone tell me what kind of "fluctuation" I can expect? Would you guess there was any chance at all that they'd drop the price $50+ back to where it's been ?
BTW, if you Google "CZ 527 .223 carbine" the Buds website pops up with the price still at $552.
I was really on the fence about dropping a big chunk of change on yet another toy I really don't need,so this $52 price hike pretty much made the decision for me.

When I was pricing a CZ75b there a few years ago, I thought I was going crazy. The price jumped up something like that $50 mid research.
As in I had the page up, clicked at a different page and when I went back it jumped in price. When it happened I was thinking they were
tracking IPs and raised it due to my interest. They still were the lowest price but it is really odd how after looking at some of their guns they
"magically" jump in price after you begin looking at them.

That's a heck of a conspiracy theory but I seriously doubt it to be true.

They tell you, upfront, as the OP noted, that they adjust prices frequently. I don't pretend to know their pricing model but I'm sure it's calculated to meet that magical spot on the supply and demand curve to maximize their investment in inventory and overhead.

I wouldn't call it an outlandish "conspiracy theory" at all. It's widely documented that buisnesses are going to incredible lengths to track their market, and if the technology exists to do this ( and it does) then it would be pretty naive to dimiss this put of hand.
I've noticed that when I'm considering something like a Spyderco knife on Amazon, the price will be the same for weeks, but when I get serious, and check the same item several times in a short period, the price miraculously jumps. I've also had Amazon drop the price on something just after I purchased, several times, in fact.
I can't state that this that is intentional, but considering the attitudes and actions of retailers, and the fact that the technology is there,it's hardly implausible.

I bought my 6920MP about 6 weeks ago from them, now they have none.

Market will bare.....?

Yeah, could be, the girl on the phone even said that these might be a more recent shipment that came with a price increase to them.
I was kinda hoping maybe I'd get lucky and that Buds had an account here on the forum, would read this and "hook a brotha up" !! :D

I've actually had the price go the other way with Bud's also. I was shopping for a Rossi M92 rifle in 45 Colt with a 20" octagon barrel with case hardened/blue finish. I saw one on their site on a Sunday for $450 and drove over Monday to place an order only to be told it was sold. I then asked if they could order me one and they said they would try. I got a call 4 days later they had my gun so I drove over and got the good news, out the door for $418 as the price had dropped in 4 days on the new order. It is the way it works and Bud's prices according to the way it is explained to me by them is their prices are based on a computer program done based on volume with their discounts based on units purchased and changed all day long.

I noticed the same thing when I was about to order a CM9 from buds. I viewed the gun several times in one day went back the next day and it had jumped $30. It could be once an item gets a certain number of views the price auto bumps.

If this happening then go from Bud's to Davidson's then back to Bud's and see what happens. :)

Personally, I will not deal with Bud's. Last year (around this time) when I was looking for an entry level 1911, I received an email from Bud's stating the RIA GI 1911 was advertised at $380 shipped. I received the email in my inbox at night and immediately after opening it in the morning I went to place an order the next day and the price had gone up. After emailing and calling them, they advised they would not honor the advertised price that I received. The fellow on the phone was not overly polite about it and suggested that I shop elsewhere if I had a problem with their pricing. I did shop elsewhere and found the same pistol for $367.

That was my one and only experience with Bud's. I hope others' experiences are/were better.

A couple of years back I looking @ a Remington Custom Shop gun (Model 547-T HB) that Buds had on the shelf. It was a limited run and Buds had a group of them in stock.

I must have looked 12 times. The price never changed. I finally pulled the trigger on Friday night. The next day, Saturday, they showed OUT OF STOCK. I got the last one! The price never changed.

If you think they are tracking your interest, look, then clear cookies, then look again. Keep doing it. Then to it w/o clearing cookies. Let us know what happens.

I always ask the local guy what he can get something for me - he has beaten Bud's every time - and that includes shipping, tax, profit, etc.......

Thanks, it wouldn't hurt to make a couple calls, but I was over at Barrow Automotive ( really outstanding operation I've used for decades) in Butler, Georgia last week, and he said he could get me one on a few days, but his price was a full hundred+ more than yesterday's price at Buds, and that wasn't including tax. If that's the best Barrows could do, there's almost no chance anyone closer to home can do better.
Earlier,I dropped an e-mail to Buds' customer service, you never know, sometimes that works, it's another $550 in the register. ;)

I too would be upset if it happened to me. I probably at that point would not buy it just on principal .

I dunno,I don't really think they're jacking me around, personally, I think I just got caught by the weekend (banks closed) and (bad)-lucked into a price increase. I don't think they're guilty of any less than ethical behavior that would justify me boycotting them. But neither am I gonna give 'em $600+ for a gun that was $550 this time yesterday, I guess it's just a case of "win some, lose some". :D

Bullseye !!!!

On a whim, I took a look at Gunbroker, and found the same gun ( lots of 'em, in fact) being sold by Buds, with a "buy now" price of $528, and $25 shipping. So I just "won" the auction, and it's costing me exactly one dollar more than their old price of $552,delivered !!!!
WOO HOO !!! "I love it when a plan comes together" !!! Many thanks to one and all for chiming in.......I'll try and post pics when it arrives next week, and I get it scoped !! :neener:

Why on earth would expect a dealer to honor an old price because YOU had cold feet when you saw the lower price?

Sheesh...

LOL, most humble and appreciative Thanks, Mike !! :D

Never hurts to read what's actually been said. I'd decided to make the purchase over the weekend, but didn't have the funds in my account ( a recent discussion with my S&L led me to believe that I couldn't count on any lag time to replace funds if I over spend.) So I HAD to wait until Monday. And I don't "expect" them to do anything, I was simply hoping that they might.I thought I'd made it clear that they didn't "owe" me,anything. And it wasn't like I was trying to scam on a sale price that had expired, heck, I can still find the old ( yesterday's) price listed on the internet.
And it's all old news now anyway, as i scored the rifle through one of Bud's Gunbroker sales.

That's a heck of a conspiracy theory but I seriously doubt it to be true.

Actually it's completely true, at least with some companies although I don't know about Buds in particular. Clear the cookies in your browser and try it again, the price may be back to the original. Many technologically literate companies use the cookies they set to track what you looked, how long, where you went next, and then use an algorithim to determine whether to increase/decrease the price when you look at the same thing next time.
