I'm looking to buy some 9mm ammo to stock up on. I think buying a case(s) is more ecomical. I'm going to start with a case of 500 or 1000 and was wondering what you all would go with? I want good 9mm ammo that isn't dirty.

I am going to be using the ammo for practice but wouldn't mind stocking up on some good HP's for defense. The price for FMJ and HP on those sites are pretty comparable. Should I just buy HP's all together? And are there any better deals going cases of 9mm ammo?

I was looking here:
http://shop.militaryshooters.com/catalog/catmfg.asp?ret_id=140211&scid=866&mfgid=7697
and here:
http://ammoman.com/index.htm

Whats up with the Aguila 9mm ammo in the first link? I seem to recall this Aguila ammo was pretty decent...

The cost per round is less, but be sure to factor in shipping charges and sales tax (if applicable). If you have to pay extra for heavy/bulky shipping, it will eat up your savings.

I've been using Sellier & Bellot 115 gr FMJ for range use and like it. I just ordered 10 boxes of 50 from Natchez for 9.99 a box. With shipping it was $119.25, or $11.92 a box. I can't buy 9mm locally for that price.

i've never fired that aguila, but by looking at it I suspect it might not be a great expanding round. If you can spare about 150, you could get half a case of fiocchi 115 gr JHP or 124gr JHP from ammoforsale.com

For a few dollars more you could get some nice ranger ammo from SGammo.com- their +P+ JHP T series.

You could also go to area gun shows, seems ammo has come done in my area lately and there has been pallets after pallets full of 9mm.

Then save your brass, if the price goes up again, you will have the start for reloading.

For practice, I'd just buy the cheapest I could find that approximates what I'd normally shoot. As long as its cheap, works, and is reloadable, what else do you need?

Ive bought a lot of ammo of Ammoman, and was never disappointed. His price seemed high at first when compared to others, but his included shipping, which usually brought the others over his price when you finally got to that page, and many times, they just put you on back order, "after" the order was placed. Ammoman is up front as to what he has in stock.

Seems now though, others are catching on, and the 1000 round, shipping paid stuff in Thompsoncustom's link would be what I went for.

For awhile there, Walmart was also a good place to buy. 100 round WWB value packs were/are being sold at case lot prices when you do the math. If you dont have the money up front, its another way to accumulate at a reasonable or at least competitive prices. I usually pick a couple up when I'm there and they have it.

At this point though, the $150/1000 delivered Thompsoncustom's link is the one to beat.

If youre going to shoot a lot, do yourself a favor and get into reloading. It very easy, and can be done pretty much anywhere, even off your coffee table if need be (did that a number of years myself), and will let you shoot a lot more for the same money.

Notice I didnt say it would "save you money". It wont, but you'll be shooing a lot more, which is the general idea, right.

I usually shoot around 3-500 rounds of 9mm a week, and then leisurely load what I shot over a couple of days after. My cost is around $5-5.50 a box of 50, and I shoot the brass to failure, which is a pretty good long time.

Hmmm, just going over the math above again, that SA stuff is starting to look "REAL" good. I always did like it when it was cheaper to buy than reload, and it looks like we may be headed back that way. :)

ammunitiontogo.com has winchester ranger NATO for a very good price. I got 500 rounds of it for christmas. Thinks it was $114 or something.

I got the ammo from Cope's Distributing. The shipping could not be beat and the price was outstanding. I, too, got it within 4 day of being ordered.

Oh, you said "bulk" but you really mean just a case. OK.

The WWB value packs are a great deal at Walmart. You can find surplus cheaper but it's not going to be as fresh. If buying a case at a time that's probably going to be the best deal when you figure in shipping on top of price.

If you really want "bulk" start thinking 10,000 rounds at a time.

Keep an eye out for deals. Just before Thanksgiving I scored some PMC 9mm 115 for $.18 a round delivered.

The NATO stuff at copes is a good deal for 124 grain stuff.

I also like the 124 grain Fiocchi stuff from Dans ammo. I am close to him and buy often enough I get OTD @ 209 for 1000 rounds.

Thanx for the info gents. 500/1k rounds of ammo kinda seemed like a bulk purchase to me lol... I do have 5k rounds of 7.62x39 stocked up, ill keep it at that level and buy another case after ever 1k rounds I shoot. Once I pin down my fav 9mm ammo then ill build that stock up.
