I have been looking at a few railed 1911s and have decided on either the Kimber Warrior, Sig TacOps threaded barrel commander size, or the Sig TacOps full size non threaded barrel.

I really want the Kimber and have bid on it but if I lose that auction which Sig should I get? Each Sig comes with 4 mags, I could care less about the threaded barrel but that model is cheaper than the full sized Sig.

Will I notice a difference in accuracy and reliability between the commander sized Sig vs. the Goverment model? The gun will be for nightstand duty with a mounted light and will not be carried.

Here's Sig's link to the TacOps 1911.

Thanks

I have a SIG RCS 1911 it's a Commander size slide on an Officer's size frame. Compared to a Government model it is a good vs great shooting pistol. Mine is for concealed carry, if I wanted a 1911 for home defense I would get a 5". If it was me I would hope I did not win the Kimber, but that is just me. My 1911s, 2 SIGs, 1 Colt, 1 Springfield Armory and an STI, as of now, they are habit forming.

Mags, you may want to hold off a bit. Lots of new models coming out with SHOT this week. Also, Crimson Trace is coming out with a new series of (I think) white light grips (flashlight grip for pistols).

Lots of mixed reviews on both companies' 1911s, mostly the Kimber getting panned hard on reliability and Sig on price. Colt, S&W and Springfield all make railed 1911s I would choose over either but my comfort level with Sig is the only hang up I have with them.

My nightstand go to is an M&P 40 and cc is an M&P 9c. Smith just added the PDF 2011 catalog to their site including their new Enhanced Series 1911s. I put my order in last week and I'm thinking after tax time the new bobtail is mine as well. Ignore their bloated MSRPs, basic is about $740, rail or bob under $1100.

Glad to see the "fake" Mags relinquished his screen name to the real Mags. Best of luck.

Well I lucked out and got the Warrior for what I wanted in the auction. So I don't need to worry anymore about this plan B. Thanks for the help fellas.
