Oh, sorry, Jim,
didn't mean to run the thread out of the channel and into the mud, here.
On reading yr last post, I must protest. Jews are just as bad as all the rest of us. The Scriptures say in several places that you must not charge interest to your own folks but it's perfectly OK to sock it to those other folks. No less a person than Rabbi Daniel Lapin has admitted in writing that, yes, indeed, the Talmud says nasty things about Gentiles, and advises its readers to take every advantage they can when dealing with those uncircumcised heathens.
Well, guess what? When the Christians took over Europe, they forbade everybody to charge or pay interest, except from or to "strangers." Said strangers were - guess who? So here we had Europeans treating Jews right nasty, because of something they (the Europeans) had read in the Pentateuch!
I suppose, if we had time, we could discuss Glastonbury, and Joseph of Arimathea, and how those nasty Romans have.......
Yes, Barbara Tuchman wrote one of her many excellent books about how the English (don't ask ME how) began to identify themselves with the ancient Israelites. Weird people stick together? Accident of history? Who knows?
