Hi to all, can anyone tell me where I can find a manual on a Professional Ordnance Inc. Carbon-15? This one keeps jamming and I need to take it all the way down. Thanks for any help.
Mike

They went out of business and were bought by Bushmaster. So a Bushmaster Carbon-15 is what you have.

Still, it is at heart, just an AR15 with a plastic upper & lower.

Any brand AR-15 manual, or on-line instructions should be all you really need to clean it.

The POI ones were noted for not working with some ammo.
My buddy had one that wouldn't even chamber Wolf steel-case ammo most of the time.

My guess is that it's the rifle. Carbon 15 rifles don't exactly have a shining reputation for reliability. I could be wrong.

Like rcmodel, mine is the first AR "style" platform I've had that had trouble feeding the steel cased wolf. It feeds everything else just fine. The plastic part of the lower at the bottom of the feed ramps was sort of "stretching" up into the fed ramps at one point, but a trip back to bushmaster smoothed that out.

Counting the issues with Wolf, it is probably my least reliable gun in any platform (that isn't saying much, since most others are just about perfect) but I've kept it because a lot of 10 year olds can lift it and they seem to enjoy shooting it.

Thanks for the replys, the problem is a broken extractor and I need to know how to get and replace the broken one does anyone know how and where I can get one. Thanks again.
Mike

Funny (ha ha), I just traded an M1 carbine for a PO carbon 15, and the extractor broke after four rounds.

I called Bushmaster, and they said to put in a standard extractor.

If the bolt breaks though, you need to get a new barrel and bolt, because the original bolt has rounded lugs, not square ones like a regular AR15. Bushmaster said it would be about $200 to get a new barrel and bolt put in, in case it needs to be replaced.

I'm not real pleased with this Carbon 15 so far. It seems like it's finnicky about extracting. The extractor it came with is wider than the standard AR15 extractor, maybe it is just a weak design, but it seems like more than just coincidence that people report broken extractors on these things.

My one and only accidental discharge was with a Carbon 15 pistol due to the extractor being bad. I dropped the mag and racked the bolt three times. Extractor did not pick up the round in the chamber. I pulled the trigger to drop the hammer and....
At least the other rules were in effect and there was no collateral damage. When I took it apart the extractor had snapped in 2.
Mine has been extremely inconsistant with various jams and failures to feed. So it seems that it is the Carbon 15 family, not just the rifle or pistol.

Those Carbon rifles are a pain in the ___.

Extractors are easy to remove...

Take the bolt carrier out...Push the little cotter pin out (firing pin retainer)...it has a tapered hole on one side of the carrier, it comes out that side...

The firing pin will probably fall out, if not pull it out.

Then turn the little thing that looks like a T (on top of the carrier, in the slot) so it will come out from under the carrier key...pull the T out.

Pull the bolt out of the carrier.

There is a pin that holds the extractor in the bolt...its easy to push out with a small punch (or something similar)...push the pin out and PRESTO...you've removed your extractor.

Oh yeah...remove the o-ring and spring from the extractor. I tried to put that in terms he could understand...how'd I do???
It should help...I didn't mention to push the pin through to open the gun up to get the carrier out...If he can find that...he can remove the extractor.

Don't be intimidated...there is no other weapon as simple as an AR 15 (IMO)...not even an AK.

All the moving parts, except the trigger, are in the bolt carrier...it all comes out in 1 piece.

rcmodel, you're mostly correct. the complete rifles they sell have some 'features' that are incompatible with other standard AR parts. however, bushmaster also sells stripped uppers and lowers that... while I won't say are "in spec", are compatible with most other parts.

A Carbon 15 was my first AR, still have it but now it is a backup to a couple of other AR's I have. But I've never had an issue with it, always run great.
