Right now i do not have a job "long story" and to tell the truth I just paid off all my bills "with my retirement money".I meen eveything. The only thing i need to pay each month is my cable and dsl bill.I am of course looking for a new job,but am curious if i file for my CHL in Oregon will they not give it to me.I hope that by the time it takes to get it of course i will have a job but you never know.I am also getting Unemployment rite now.I just really want to get my CHL but dont know if it will pass with me not having a source of money coming in.I have about 4 thousand in my bank account and want to spend the few hundred it would take to get one. Also the NRA class i took and passed was in 2004.I dont know if I need to take it again or if the certificat will work in 2005.Thanks for any info on this.

I'm not sure I understand how not having a job has anything to do with why you might be denied a CHL. Unless you lost your last job because of a felony conviction.

If I were you I would make a friendly call to the local licensing authority before applying and find out the laws in your area. I might even casually ask if employment is a deciding factor. I am inclined to think it is not. Most jurisdictions want to verify your criminal background rather than your financial portfolio.

As an aside, seeing as you're out of work right now --- and I don't really want to lecture since your needs may be different than mine -- but you think maybe finding a job might be a greater priority than spending limited money on a CHL?

Good grief, where in Oregon do you live? It cost me $65! I don't know of any reason why your employment status should make a difference at all. I wasn't working when I applied for mine.
If you have any trouble, give the Oregon Firearms Federation a call. They've set several Sheriffs straight regarding Oregon law.
