Put something out Saturday you might want. Nice Model 681 no dash. As a bonus let me walk out for 4 Benjamin’s. Can’t beat that for a present to yourself. A nice 681 has been on my want list for a while. The few I’ve seen have been priced way too high.

For $400? Either you know something, or he let the holiday cheer get to him. That is pretty.

My local Pawn'n'Gun has a 686 Midnight Black that looks like it was stored in a cement mixer, tagged at $475.

Very NICE..
I have it's Twin. No dash + all. I pulled the Magna grips from mine and installed a CT Laser grip. It has the best SA and DA of all of my Smiths. Mine is NOT for sale. I have seen similar for almost twice of what you paid.
I'm sure that you know that there was a recall for all of the no Dash 'L' frames for the hammer nose bushing? If it has been done, there will be a 'M' stamped inside the frame, around the '681' stamp.
I never sent mine in for the recall and probably never will..We all know how things can come back from the factory worse than they went in??...
You got a GOOD one, and a GREAT Deal...Bill.

Thanks, and I am aware of the recall. I have 2 other 686 no dash and a 586 no dash and none have been in and like you, don't plan on sending unless a problem jumps up. I did notice the 681 has one cylinder that every so often tries not to lock up just right if you fire double action fast. I probably will send it back to the mother ship and let them look at it since I think the 681's fall under the lifetime warranty. If so, I understand they will also do the recall work at the same time. Wouldn't matter to me either way. Ironically, the worst action of any 686 I've owned was a no dash with the rework stamp. The guy I got it from had just go it back from S&W when we traded and I couldn't believe they let it leave the factory with such a horrible action. I put lighter springs in it and got it decent but it had to go on down the road.

Congrats on a great score (and nice timing), with the Model 681! In fine condition and for $400; that's a big win/win especially at Christmas time!

That is an ugly gun, how can you look at it? I think you should send it to me so you don't have to see it!

Great buy, Merry Christmas to you!

Im sort of fond of the ugly guns like this. Sort of like an ugly woman. They just seem to appreciate the love I give them more than the pretty ones!!

Nice.

Was hoping to buy myself a new pistol as a post-Christmas gift.

I’ve been ever so good this year.

Instead, my old laptop had been running so slow (new operating system in an old MacBook) as to be infuriating to use. So I ended up getting a new one instead.

Enjoy the new acquisition.

Nice gun at a great price! The S&W model 681 is on my wish list... I don't think that I could have gotten my wallet out fast enough for one in that condition for $400!

Nice! That 681 has such a classic, pleasing to the eye revolver profile.

Some people have all the luck.....

My very first handgun was an LEO trade-in 681. Had to sell it in '08 cuz the kids were hungry.

Looking back, I shoulda kept the gun and sold the kids........;)
