First post, so be gentle.
I see several posts on this topic. The last thread was closed when ADMIN requested it start fresh here. However, I don't see that anybody actually has done it?
I got my WM338 in a trade from a friend for a JD440 track loader. His dad bought it new to hunt brown bear and died before he ever got to use it. What a beautiful gun. I use it to punch finger size holes in 1/2" steel plate in the back yard. Lots of fun and the neighbors have not called the police yet. The recoil seems about the same as my single shot shotgun and that is pretty amazing. It is the fun of shooting a .50 cal without paying $5 a round. Plus you have the option of those Barnes tungsten rounds too.
I stupidly assumed that any auto had a flush clip like the mini14. The flip down job is a pain and it only hold 3 rounds. If I actually used it to hunt, I would want to be able to load /unload quickly because I hunt from the truck. Plus I like to carry several clips with different bullet types.
I thought of just selling it and getting another model that comes with a clip, but I don't really see anything listed. HK was referenced but HK-USA has no 338 WM autos listed.
I guess if nobody has done it, then I should not be the first to try because I would likely ruin the gun.
Thanks,
