During my run yesterday a weird thought popped into my head. When I'm buying a gun, it feels just like when I was a kid during Christmas. Maybe that's why this hobby's so addicting? What's weird, is the stupid ten day waiting period kinda adds to the excitement of the purchase. Don't get me wrong I'd get rid of waiting periods if I could. What do you guys think?

I turn 21 on thursday. 21 years I had to wait to own a handgun and with every hour that passes, the anticipation grows. Not only do I have to wait until thrusday, I have to wait three days after that. Still working on a way around that....

Fourtanatly, my father let me borrow some of his pistols. I can't keep my hands off them. An old Ruger 357 blackhawk, a Ruger P95, and a little 25. auto....I sill have to wait to buy ammo for them thoug....:( :banghead:

Yup. New toys. Always excited.

Getting a new gun is no different than being a kid getting a Christmas present. I just wish people gave them to me for free like Christmas gifts as a kid. lol

:D

Hehe, thats exactly how I was explaining it. Just ordered a 1911, my first firearm that is all mine. I feel like running around my house screaming, I can't wait until it gets here.

Last week I got a new Colt NRM on Tuesday and then a couple of days later got 2 C&R rifles delivered to the house. SWEEEEEEEET! :D

I sill have to wait to buy ammo for them though....

In Ohio, when buying handgun ammo, they ask if it's for a rifle or pistol lol. If you say it's for a rifle then you only need to be 18.

I turned 21 while in Israel and had to wait a week til after my birthday to get a pistol, that was a long wait heh.

I gotta chime in, ME TOO !!!!!!!. The other week I went over my FFls place to pick up my 4 Colts. He met me outside and we talked for a couple of minutes.

Then he said: "You wanta go look at your pile of Ponys?" Man I was like a kid on Christmas morning, Unwrapping those 2 new WWI colts I got from Wildalaska, (alot lot of OOOHs and AHHHHHS) from both of us.

Then we examined the used Delta Elite 10mm and used CCO, The guy I bought the CCO from included a set of beautiful wood grips and a note that said they were an early christmas present. Great guy.

Good times were had by all. My son turned 18 last month and will be moving in with me soon. He said the first thing he wants to do is go shooting with the old man. (Got him his first rifle, Shh don't tell)

I went to Walmart to buy 9 mm ammo. The lady goes "You have to be 21, do you have ID?" I go "Where's it say 21?" She points at the sign hanging from the ceiling. I go "That says you have to be 18." No go. I was mad.

The sign did say 18 though.

I remember the first Mosin I got delivered to my door via UPS or somesuch (03 FFL). My wife said "Now the UPS lady probably knows this is a gun, so don't act all psychotic when you get it :D"

I was giggling like a 10 year old as I drug the box up the stairs.

I love that feeling. It happens to me the moment I make the payment, then comes the waiting game.... Screw it who wants to play Hungry Hungry Hippos?

I feel your pain Finch. I remember I had to wait 3 days also. There's no way around it, yet, just get your blue card and there is no more waiting after that.

I always kind of wondered about that... what if you had a Ruger PC9 or some such thing? Would they deny you ammo for your rifle?

Private transfers. :D I am 19, and already own a CZ-52. Besides, 7.62 x 25 is for my, uhh, semi-ppsh... yeah....

We don't have waiting periods, but do have the 30 day rule. When I buy several handguns and have them shipped to my friendly dealer I have him set them aside till I have all of them at his shop and then apply for the multi-purchase permit and pick them all up at one time.
I just don't get excited any more after I have inspected it because I know it is mine. I just look at it like a layaway plan that you will pick up sometime in the future.

Walmart is stupid anyways. I couldn't buy spray paint before I was 18, or any chemical.

Now that I know of a long rifle that takes 9 mm, I will just go to the gun store, and say "My dad has a Ruger PC9, I believe he said it is 9 mm, so I need some ammo for that."

Vicarious Christmas

:) It's not quite the same for me. I "casually" glance over my shoulder when the Dearly Beloved brings in a new firearm and see if it's something I'm interested in. Then I get excited, ifit's something I can appropriate, sor of. ;)
