Thinking about giving my collection to someone in another state. All are C&R. About 10 rifles and 6 handguns. I know I will need to do a dealer transfer in his state, and I would like to do them all at one time. Is that possible?

Any chance you can convince the giftee to apply for his 003 FFL? That would make things a bit simpler.

Nothing jumps out at me in Kansas law that would prevent you from transferring all the firearms at once. You'll want to select a Kansas FFL to do the transfers for you; they'll be intimately familiar with any Kansas-specific requirements, and can advise you better, but I don't think you'll have any problem.

C&R is "Curio & Relic," a classification of firearms over 50 years old and/or of collector interest that may be bought and sold directly between holders of an FFL Type 03 collector's license. The license is cheap ($30, IIRC), and easy to get, and eliminates the need for using normal "Type 01" FFL dealers to buy such guns from retailers or private parties across state lines, etc.

This is the ATF's page on it: http://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/curios-relics.html

As the OP specifies that the transferee is a resident of another state, all of his gifted firearms will have to transfer through a dealer. In the case of the long-guns that dealer can be in either state, but in the case of the handguns they will have to be transferred at a dealer in the transferee's state of residence.

The 03 FFL would allow all of those to be simply transferred/gifted between the OP and his beneficiary.

Thanks, all. I made a couple of calls to FFLs and a plan is in place.
