I am about to become a proud and happy owner of a Colt ACE Service Model .22 LR pistol. It's in very fine condition and comes with two magazines, also in fine condition.

I am very curious about the production history of this gun. A brief exam of a COLT Firearms Catalogue stated something about 1931-1945.

A few WWW searches suggest that the gun was in production long after 1945.

Can anyone inform and enlighten me on this topic? Any and all advice much appreciated. Thank you.

MC.

The Colt Service Ace? The Carbine Williams "floating chamber" design that gets .45 level recoil out of the .22 cartridge? That's a fine piece of equipment you got there. Someone ought to make those again.

You might ask the question on the firearms research section. I believe they ended production in the early 80's. I don't know if they were made straight through or not.

Good on ya for snagging one, with 2 mags no less. I'ts on my long term wish list. The prices on them seem to have a steady and slight increase as time goes by. I hate to think what they would sell for in 5 to 10 years.

Thank you for the advice on the 'firearms research' section, and the other comments. I've now posted my query to the research area of the forums.

Thank you for the courtesy.

Best regards,

MC.
