I actually have the same question, as I've seen new in box Colts this year marked Gov/LE only" that had a different model number from the non-marked ones. As far as I could tell the markings were the only difference. I'm not a colt guy, but I'd like to know if there's any other differences too.
The MT6400 that was linked has a compensator and a non collapsible stock. My 6920 that is LE marked has a removable flash suppressor and a 4 position collapsible stock.
Quiet hit the nail on the head ! The LEO marked rifles and various pistol mags were for during the ban. Auto or burst are not marked this way!
Colt still marks some LEO, they are intended for semi contract buys for law enforcement agencies.
Please note that if Obama wins, by February, it goes back to 1994-2004 regs and anything marked thusly will not be available for civilian sales .
