I found a new gunstore in a part of the county I am not normally in.They had eclectic selection of mostly SGs. Some nice old but overvalued doubles, lots of model 12s and square backs ect. I spied this 50s mossberg bolt .410 with a blind 4 shot mag and a weird little removable choke in modified. It was very clean and oh so 50ish and best of all $99. I passed it up however as thethe stores very reasonable DROS fee plus the 10% sales tax was a deal breaker- I got lots of .410s!
Then I saw this extraordinarily long giant cannon leaning against the wall. I knew it was a 1976 Marlin Bolt action 10 gauge Supergoose gun with a 36" barrel! It was like new and there was a companion 12 ga version which was dwarfed by the 10. "just came in" guy says " $250 each" .
Well I have 2 other 10 gauges; a SxS coach gun and my beloved 30" BPS which gets used for turkeys and waterfowl. I reload for 10 gauge. I reload .410 too, all other guages need not apply for reloading tho.
I offer $300 OTD for the Mossberg .410 and the NIB Marlin 55-10 Supergoose- cash. He comes back with $350 and we settle for $325 OTD.
So in 10 days or so I'll put up pictures of the .410 and 10ga Bolt action odd couple. Just what I needed
Here are some better pictures of a Supergoose than I can take. My earlier gun (1976-1985) has a walnut stock and the sling - and is new!

and the Mossberg .410 is a Model 183 take down 3 shot

My Mossberg 183 has taken more squirrel than I can remember. Great little shotgun. I have managed to collect the 183 in far too many variants.
A buddy shoots the Supergoose and loves the looong barrel for reaching out but man is it a brute.
