I bought a rock island 1911 with crimson trace grips on it. The first time I shot it I got them sighted in, put it down, and when I picked it up to shoot it again it was 8 inches right. I sent them in and got them back 2 weeks ago. Now I unholstered the gun and put it on my nightstand and when I woke up the laser would not come on. I thought maybee I sat it on the switch and ran the batterys out so I bought new ones and still nothing. So now they are on there way to crimson trace again. My question is how reliable are they for everyday carry? My gun does get bumped around a little bit. Could I be causing these problems?

P.S. Crimson traces costumer service has been very nice and helpful. That helps keep me calm when my $300 grips are always broke.

Might be you just got a bad one, a lot of serious shooters use them for carry and I have only heard good things about them.

I have seen ALOT of people use them on their small J-Frames. I didnt believe in lasers until I got the Lasermax laser for my Glock and now I couldnt imagine it without it.

Nothing gives you that little extra bit of peace of mind when your checking your house out for a noise and you have a brilliant pulsating dot that assists in your scan. It actually kind of works as a flashlight in a way in darkness because its so damn bright! :D

Mine need their batteries replaced, too.

But it has been a few years in my case. :p

I've never heard of anyone having these kinds of problems with the LaserGrips.

But they are simple mechanical devices, and can malfunction.

Hopefully they can make it right for you. They really are a useful extra.

Remember to practice with your iron sights, if you should ever need to use your gun and the grips don't work.
