What is a good price for a brand new CZ 452 in .22LR? A local dealer gave me the price of $329 for the American model and $349 for the Varmint model. Do those prices seem decent? Thanks- Jason
I'd skip both of those and get a used pre-"A" prefix ZKM with iron sights. The sights alone are worth about $100, so CZ is just making more money by taking them off.
I just got back from a foray to the gun shops where I found and grabbed up a new CZ-452FS. The dealer was good enough to let me sit down with it and look it over in detail and check how it fit me. My opinion is that it is an extremely well designed and well made rifle. I will be a sucker for Mannlicher stocks until Gabriel blows his horn...and that CZ stock is a fine example. The wood is beautiful, every metal to wood interface is spot on and the finish is just as I like it. I may not be the most savvy shopper out there, but I happily gave the gentleman $399.00 for the rifle.
Triggers on the 452 are so-so, the 453 a bit better. If you want a great trigger to put into the 452, consider the new Timney trigger (first or second version). Exceptionally nice, some minor internal wood working in the stock required. $60-$90.

IMO, the Brooks is a pretty good deal but the adjustments to trigger pull weight and creep are set at fixed (discrete) levels. For most folks, this will do. With the Timney, however, these can be adjusted to settings on a continuous curve to a greater range.
