Hello all, just wondering for those of us with large hands...does the Hi Power SFS or Hi Power with a ring hammer bite? The ones with the spur nail me...and I have some meaty paws...not like George Foreman or anything, but a Glock 21 or Glock 30 is actually comfortable to me.

Any recommendations or should I just forget the Hi Power and like many a good lookin' woman, admire from a distance?

NO they have this cute little hammer that won't even come close to biting your hand.
I have to say, I did not like the SFS and said so many times but I recently bought a HI POWER with the SFS system. I might be coming around to the idea

My older Hi Power with the traditional full size ring hammer bites me every shot, even though I don't have particularly large hands (all double stack SIGs are too big for me, for example.) My SFS, on the other hand, can't even come close to biting, and is an absolute delight to shoot. It's my favorite "full size" auto pistol.

hammer bite

A good tight glove fixed the hammer bite for me. I don't own any high powers right now, but I really like the action. Just wish they had made them in .45.

The hammer doesn't bite, but the Magazine safety does.

I picked up mine yesterday. My first though was:

Why haven't I shot one of these before!?!?

My second though was:

What's my CZ going to think if she finds out I've been cheating on her with a sexier, more accurate gun?

I cured the spur bite on a new HP before it ever bit me; I cut part of the spur off with a Dremel. It's relatively soft metal and cut easily with a grit disc. Then I finished it off with a fine file, a hard stone and some Oxpho-Blue. I also relieved the back of the hammer 'shaft?' a little to provide some insurance clearance.

The hardest part of the whole job was putting the gun back together. No, actually the hardest part was getting that blankety-blank pin out of the gun. I'm convinced they assembled it before the black epoxy finish had completely cured and ended up gluing it in.
