Hey,

My edc is a g26. I have to travel to different courthouses for my job so I obviously cant carry inside them. I usually just leave my g26 in my center console of my truck. The problem I am having is during the work day when I have to stop at gas stations or stores its too difficult to put the holster on while sitting in my truck in a parking lot. So I always just walk in with just a pocket knife.

I have been thinking about picking up a lcp to leave in my truck, so I can just throw it in a pocket whenever I have to stop at sketchy stores. I can get one w/half a box of ammo today for $250 from a guy who bought it new 1 month ago and shot half a box of ammo thru it and continue to carry my g26 off work. Or I could save the $250 and just keep using my pocket knife. I wanted to get some opinions and see what you guys do or would do.

Thanks

The thing about having a pocket pistol is that it is always with you. I always have my P3AT even when carrying my G26/CBST.

I solved that problem with 2 steps.

1. Make sure all my belts can support my 19/26.
2. I keep a leather IWB holster that slips on easily. Galco, high noon, and many others make one for under $50. It only has to stay on long enough to pump gas and maybe walk inside. It always stays in the truck. Something like this slips in the waistband or between the belt and pants quickly.

I still prefer kydex for all day carry, but I like something like above in the truck "just in case."

I have thought about leaving the holster on ... but I have to go through metal detectors and I dont want to freak out the deputies or go thru pat downs.

I actually carry in a leather iwb galco stow-n-go it's easy to take on and off while standing but not while seated in a truck. Another thing is I have to have my shirt tucked while working so I would be untucking and retucking my shirt a bit.

Thanks for responses.

Temporary appendix carry. That's usually easier to put on while seated. It is easier for me to temporarily slip on a holster like that than to try and stick a pocket pistol in my pocket while seated. YMMV.

I'll try the appendix carry when i leave for lunch. When i was originally trying to find where on me to carry 4:30 canted was the only option that worked, appendix worked while standing, when i went to sit down it would dig into my leg but i didnt try putting it on while seated.

I tried the appendix carry and I have to raise up out the seat to get it in. Kinda nervous I might be seen through the windshield by a clerk or something. I also ran by the guns store and pocketed a s&w j frame and lcp. The j frame wont fit in my pockets but the lcp dissappeared with a pocket holster.

I guess it comes down to do I feel like spending the money with christmas right around the corner.

Do you guys think $250 for the lcp with everything from the factory and half a box of ammo is a good deal?

Thanks

$250 is a very good price, presuming all is well with the gun.

Why is he selling it so fast? If his answer is good, buy it..... maybe after shooting up the rest of that box of ammo.

He bought it for his wife a month ago and she doesnt like it....says he only ran that half a box through it.

If it were me, I'd keep the g26 in the car when I need to go into the courthouse. Just keep the holster on your belt, empty. Get a cheap uncle mikes if you want to keep the gun in a holster while in the car. Or a small car safe.

I'm not a fan of mouse guns and pocket pistols in general, so it were me in this situation, I'd skip the pocket pistol and simply modify how / where I carried.

Everybody is so different, just get what fits your size, situation, needs, etc. Handguns are just a compromise for a possibility which we hope never happens anyway, so choose the best compromise for you.

Do you? Maybe. I do. I am a slender dude, run a lot, and can't always conceal a full sized or even compact firearm.

And yes the LCP has a horrible trigger, but is amazingly accurate....and I am FAR from a Ruger Fanboy, if there are such people.

Yes, buy it.

First off, everyone could use a pocket pistol. They are just very versatile. Second, I was in a similar situation, in and out of court and other no-firearm zones such as schools, pocket carry was perfect. My pistol was easily stowed or back on me. Having to wear the work clothes I do I would need a tuck-in holster for anything else. Having to unholster retuck, untuck, holster and retuck would have been a huge pain.

Tried Ankle carrying, and anything else I could think of. Pocket carry was the answer and has served me well. my p32 (choose your own flavor) literally goes with me everywhere.

If you go the pocket pistol route, just be very mindful of whether you have it in/on or not. You don't want to get into a courthouse and only then discover (along with the deputies/marshalls) that you've got your pistol! At least a mid-size gun on the waist is something you are aware of and are unlikely to accidentally carry beyond your intended area.

I use a pocket wallet from Wooden Leather for my LCP. Wallet holsters that allow you to shoot without removing the gun are considered Any Other Weapon (AOW) by the ATF. Wooden Leather's wallet encloses the trigger, I prefer it for both safety and legality.

It hides the gun well enough I've dropped it in front of people, and had it out holding it in my hand in front of my wife, and I haven't been made yet. The flap completely covers the gun in your pocket, making detection near impossible even if someone is standing directly behind you looking down into the pocket. $30.

Problem I have with the G26 being a pocket gun is its width. IMO, a true pocket gun is something designed to be single-stack .380 or 9mm (or .32 if you wanna go that low), designed to be fired with 1 finger on the grip.

The G26 a pocket gun" ya ok". Maybe in cargo pants in the lower pockets and then when you walk it slaps your knees like a brick. LCP is a pocket gun.

A gun beats a knife any day. One of the rules of concealed carry is to be armed at all times. If I was you, I'd get it. $250 sounds like a pretty good deal for a slightly used LCP. Brand new ones retail for around $330. They're great little guns, and I've been carrying one for a while now. It's not a fun gun to shoot after about 30 rounds, but it's not meant for lots of shooting anyway. You can't go wrong with an LCP, it'll be with you wherever and whenever you need it.

Get the pocket pistol. It's a much better option in the local Stop 'N Rob than a pocket knife. That said, an option you might try for your G26 is a tuckable holster with J-hooks worn as a regular IWB. It's much easier sliding a tuckable with gun inside into your pants and slipping the J-hook under your belt than it is fiddling with snaps and loops. You can easily put it on and take it off while you are exiting or entering your truck.
