Does your church have pro-gun Pastor?

Well I know of our six associate pastors most shoot and a few regularly. I don't think our main pastor is against but I don't think he goes. Several of our associates have shot my black guns and the sub gun and always grin while doing so. Several have thier CCW but as other said its against the law here to carry in church.- unless you are one of them "special folk" ya know LE ... I have taken many a visiting minister -some form places with severe restrictions on shooting as Russia and England and all enjoy it.

I know when I first went there I asked if I had to get rid of my guns and they said why would ya? If ya aren't a criminal there is no reason too... I knew I was home...

Yes, but more in principle than practice. He supports the 2A and owns a couple of firearms, but he's not a hobbyist, doesn't hunt, and doesn't carry. But he is very appreciative of those in the congregation who do.

I am a pastor, and spend time with many others. I know of none here who are anti-gun. Most own at least one. I'm one of at least two that regularly carries.

In a conversation last month, two pastors I was having lunch with were discussing how it was not logical that they did not mind carrying but would not be able to worship as well if they were carrying. They were not worried about church safety during services, each knowing of at least three congregants who normally carried and they assume do so at services as well.

One of the two also joked that it's less expensive to apply for a CHL than to do a usual new employee background check even though these produce the same information -- but when he suggested to his regional leader to switch from background checks to CHLs "that idea didn't fly".

There was a wedding at my church a couple of weeks ago, which I ran lights for. Two church staff members were getting married, and Pastor Bill was conducting the ceremony. When he asked for the ring for the bride, that was the cue for two of our beefiest, blackest security men to proceed up the aisle, slung AR's at the ready, with the ring in a locked Doskocil case handcuffed to one of the men. They were met by the best man, HK USP holstered but ready, who inspected the ring, approved it's quality, and passed it off to the groom. :what:

It was the frikkin' coolest wedding I've been to! Great friends, great times, awesome couple.

(For the safety ninnies among us, I personally chamber-checked the AR's. The best man has a valid CWL, and his weapon remained holstered.)

So is Pastor Bill pro-gun? I'd imagine so.

I dont go to church as I dont believe in god. However I know my friends Imam collected a black rifle or two and could shoot them. I have also seen one of the deacons of a local church down at the shooting range shooting a revolver of some sort.

My Pastor is not a shooter, but he is not intolerant of those of us who do. Several of our church Deacons, including me, are CHL holders. Every shepherd needs a good sheepdog. He also supports a men's ministry that I run called Legacy Outfitters, which hosts hunting and shooting events.

A dear friend of mine, who is a pastor at another church, is a CHL holder and avid hunter/shooter/reloader. We have had many grand adventures.

Our church staff would probably agree with me on the meaning of the 2A - at least in theory. Where they'd go in practice I don't know and I don't want to know.

I'm prepared for me and mine and I'm not looking for an opportunity to let them meddle, nor do I want them to enact some sort of 'policy' that will drive a wedge between me and the church.

Remember - church staff are politicians - no matter what THEY believe, they will try to accomodate the most hysterical anti-gun elements within the congregation.

What I do is my own business.

This goes back more than a few years ago, but a long story short, I had left the church that I had been going to for a while because quite frankly I couldn't relate to most the congregation anymore. So off I went shopping for a new church, and finally settled on a Southern Baptist Church where I continue to go today.

Things that gave me the right vibes about my "new" church:
-Almost all the guys, and even the gals, had a tactical style pocket knife or multi-tool clipped on their pants pockets.
-Almost everyone had a pocket flashlight capable of cranking out more than 65 lumnes.
-and, you guessed it, most of the members owned firearms (civilian, former/reserve military, and LEO) and were not caving into the trend of "guns being bad" and therefore nobody should have them.

our pastor loves shooting, has a few really nice doubles, a few handguns, i don't know what else, but he's from South Africa so his weapons stay there, i did take him to the range a few times so he could satisfy the urge to punch some holes though

Our church is in a unique position

We (Eastern Orthodox) are primarily an urban/northern denomination (due to historical immigration patterns)- generally, the church itself has no position on guns with one important exception- if a Priest sheds blood, he must give up his position- having said that, I grew up in an urban, anti-gun area, but have since been to 2 smaller Orthodox churches, one in the rural midwest, and one in a small Southern city, and have found the priests to be more in favor of firearms ownership. I guess even in the North however, the priests really don't get involved in the gun control issue, our church feels it is a matter of self-control as an official position, I believe, rather than something that government needs to legislate.

My Priest was supportive of my getting a gun and thinks it is great I am getting interested in maybe someday competing.

He does not have a gun himself. But that does not mean he is "anti-gun".

Cato the younger... I am also EO! I go to a rural OCA parish (Orthodox Church of America) and the members are all anti-gun from what I can see. Only my Priest is supportive of me. We had a long talk about the guy who would like to kill me and my decision to get a handgun and a carry permit and he approves even if the others do not.

I am more surprised that you have a Wal Mart that sells handguns than by a pro-gun pastor!I have never heard of a Wal Mart that sold handguns. Where do you live? They don't in Raleigh.

Could have been years ago. I remember the Wal-Mart where I used to live sold handguns, but it was twenty years or so ago.
It was last week he saw&bought it, I even checked there myself :D

SA 1911 Stainless Steel for $525

But they have Glocks, a Springfield XD, S&W 500, Browning .22's, and a quite a few handguns... They have plenty of shotguns including Mossberg, Remington, Winchester... they have a swell variety up here in Alaska :)

I was shocked to find an M1A SOCOM 16 in one of those revolving gun cases at Wally World a few months back...
