Does your gun range ban .50 BMG?

Never one to avoid anothers' fight, there are a lot of people that have no issue with the .50, and still have no desire to sit next to one at the range. It is ridiculous for you to lump a GUN RANGE OWNER in with antis because he chooses to issue rules you don't like. It is HIS PROPERTY. You are not ENTITLED to take your .50 anywhere except your own property. He is free to justify his choice based on any criteria he chooses, and there is no reason for the disrespect you are showing.

I hope you are not talking to me, if you are, then read over the thread again b/c you are obviously mistaking me for someone else.

You are not ENTITLED to take your .50 anywhere except your own property

That's a quite an ignorant and incorrect statment. Would you like to correct yourself?

Like I said before, what people do with their range is their business, what do I care, I don't own a 50 BMG but if I did, I wouldn't whine about them not letting them shoot it if it's not my property. My range is owned by not an individual, but a club collectively, and we discuss intelligently regarding our rules and we can't think of a good reason to ban 50BMG as a caliber. As a matter of fact, I don't think it came up as a discussion because we don't see a big problem with it.

I'm just looking for a good (scientific/rational) reason why people draw the line at 50 BMG and not other calibers.

I think banning 50 BMG only, and letting 416, 408, 338 go is purely ilogical.

NO, I don't know about the details of YOUR range, and I don't CARE, but if you made it so that 50BMG WILL tear-up the berm, but thousands of 223, 308, 408, or 416 will leave the berm untouched, then you are either lying or the berm was poorly desinged, or both.

Having said that, what a private range wants to do is not my business. If the range board consists of a bunch of biggoted old men with 243 bolt action and can't tolerate semi-auto or bigger calibers for reason that they can't back-up by objective data or objective neighoborhood concerns, then I'm going somewhere else instead of wasting my time educating old dogs.

I don't own a range, but I use one a lot. There is a big difference between a .416 @ 5,000 lb. of energy w/ no muzzle brake and a .50 @ 14,000 lb. of energy w/ a coffee-can sized brake sharing the blast with everyone on the line. The .50 has over 3 times the energy of any of the chamberings you listed. It is silly to make that comparison. I was also pointing out that using the Feinstien card, Race card, Old man card, Anti card, is just not appropriate. The people you are maligning with these comments are on your side of the gun issue. There are easier ways to make a living than owning a gun range; the people that do it have put their support of RKBA into full-time practice.

Nope. You are not entitled to take it to the mall, movies, pizza hut, or onto MY PROPERTY without the permission of the owner, Even if that property happens to be a gun range. You need to look up the definition of ENTITLED.
