Guys, i got a Brand New DPMS LR-308. It comes flat top with a pic rail on the gas block.

I put magpul flip ups on it to start and it shot about 4-5 feet high at 40 - 50yds after all the adjustments for elevation had been topped out.

Tried an A2 style front and carry handle rear and same thing

also several different iron or back up sights off other AR's and same thing

However as soon as i put an Aimpoint on it, it shoot as perfect as you would want.

Any suggestions on how to get iron or back up sights to work with this rifle?

i did notice the rail on the gas block seems to be a 1/4" at the most lower than the flat top on the Rec....but should that really make that much of a difference?

thanks for the info

i knew it would effect the elevation being lower, had no clue it would be that drastic.

but it does make sense. when i saw a rifle just like mine with a quad rail installed it really made the difference in height noticible.. became very obvious at that point

again thanks for the info, i will look into getting a spacer or taller front sight

Keep in mind that the magpul mbuis front sight is designed for a railed forend, not for a picatinny gas block mount. Rumor has it that they can melt on the picatiny gas blocks.
