Duh... Feel stupid asking this...

Yeah if you can sift through all of the elitism, swearing, and pissing matches you can find some decent reads...I wouldn't bother asking for any advice though.

I usually just go there for ammo deals.

Read the forum rules, they are pretty laughable...Donate money to the site and you are in the clear though, everyone else are just peons.

Stay in the technical forums and out of general discussion.

I wouldn't mind arfcom if it wasn't for the fact that you can't search on users as a peon or you are limited to something like 2 months worth of posts, no more.

I want to be able to click on a member and see things like their previous posts and so on.

They saved me enough time, hassle and money on my AR assembly (and choice of parts on my build) that I think that I'm going to pony up for a "team membership" there. Being able to search and to look at older posts will be a real benefit.

I love ar15.com, i've been a lurker for several years. I think their AK section is as good as any of the AK forums.I've also found lots of interesting and useful tips from their survival fourms, and heads-up on some killer deals.
But, i can't seem to join. I've tried and it says "no anonomous e-mail addresses", and i use hotmail and yahoo.Anyone have any suggestions ?

Yes: as an anti-spam effort, they don't accept yahoo or hotmail addresses for signing up. The email address that's associated with your account at your Internet service provider will likely work.

So what is the most amount of posts you can have without paying anything?

I was wondering that myself. I have quite a few and continue to post. This place is the country club. That place is the locker room.

The benefits of being a Team Member is quite a bit more than just getting a bit more "freedom of speech!" The full search function, the rifle giveaways, just to name a few. Larue has a monthly giveaway too, only for Team Members.

It's kinda like listening to your favorite radio show from a distant station. After a little while, you don't hear the static anymore, since you're focusing on what's important.

No limit that I know of.

ETA: That board is big enough to really get the manufacturers and distributors attention when a group buy is organized. Mods, If I broke a rule by promoting another board, then feel free to delete my post. :scrutiny:

So, you can be disciplined for speaking well of another forum ?
Sometimes this place really makes me wonder. ( Or have i just violated yet another double-secret rule?) :D

Hey Bazooka, long time no see.
That's mostly just a figure of speech, though in this case i was refering to THR's tendency to be (IMO) overly-moderated, and not always just from our noble moderators !! Honorable member Asknight made mention of a possible rule infraction when he spake favorably of another like-minded forum, and assuming this was true,i made my (hopefully) subtle objection to said rule.
I'm just having a couple post-work beverages, internet trolling, and hoping to stay out of trouble !!!

Most forums I visit have rules against spamming for members of another forum.

I know for a fact this place tolerates polite discussions of other forums and the occasional invite to try a new place.

It's the spamming just for the sake of spamming that's bad and that's pretty much the rule everwhere I've seen.

Sounds like you're making a mountain out of a mole hill with this one.

That's it, you're outta here!!! :neener: just kidding
I think THR is moderated perfectly to keep civility and focus, otherwise you will have the general discussion section of ARFcom here.
I don't think there is any policy against promoting another website here. I've been on sites that will actually block the URL of another website unless they are a sponsor regardless of if they have better deals. Kind of aggrivating.
