Either, both or neither?

I know that with S&W 's with model numbers you can verify if they were factory nickel finish (not chrome) by the capital letter N being stamped on the lower part of the frame under the grips. I don't know about pre number models so maybe someone will advise.

If it has tight factory nickel (no peeling or discoloring) this sounds like a fair price and worth buying both.

We dont really know if its nickel or chrome.

For myself, I prefer nickel to stainless as far as looks. I've owned several nickel Smiths and Colts. Mostly, I just dont care for stainless much, I tend not to keep stainless guns, mostly because they dont appeal to me.

Whoever said nickel "comes off easily" has different information and experience than I do.

I generally prefer blued to stainless revolvers, but I love my 66-2. I think $575 for a 66 no dash is reasonable price, but if you can talk them down to $525 or less, even better.
