Extreme files chapter 11

I've only been loading again for about 1.5 years and all I've been loading are plated bullets in 380, 9mm and 45acp. For the 380 and 45 just about everything has been X-Treme while most of my 9mm has been Berry's. Being retired now and on a fixed income I need to watch budgets closely and I for one have been thankful that Cabela's has become a vendor for Xtreme. This way I can keep my inventory down along with the cash flow to a manageable level. Also the cost of local sales tax is usually less then the shipping charges.

The biggest problem has become availability. The Cabela's store local to me has been Out of Stock for months. And not just on the X-Treme line either, it's also been Berry's and Rainiers products as well. So far this year I have received 400pcs of the rebated brass.

Guess like many I will now have to adjust my buying habits and thinking. Maybe bigger orders less frequently.

I load for 40S&W, so I'm fine with 165 or 180 grain. But I do wish RMR made something for 40, with weight being less the issue. They have a decent deal on 180gr. jacketed bullets (they are Armscor); I've bought a few thousand. They are just OK, not the quality of the in-house RMR products.

I like the xtreme 165 plated HP in 40, but with no bulk or clearance pricing they cost like jacketed. I'll probably just buy a .357 sig barrel for that gun, at which point I can shoot the RMR 124gr. 9mm MPR HP for less. It looks like with the decline in 40's popularity the deals just aren't impressive.

I load for USPSA in limited. I have a power factor to make. I have a minimum caliber requirement.

As I said earlier, I appreciated that xtreme was always interested in supporting the shooting sports and geared at least some of their products to meet competitors’ needs. If RMR wants to step up and serve that market, great. Until then, they’re not super relevant to me.

The last thing left in the xtreme clearance section is 7,000 220gr. 40 RNFPs. Look like the last ride for that train.

Just to put my money where my mouth/preference is, I just ordered 2k projectiles from them. I used a true CC (rather than a debit card) so I have plenty of recourse if they just stop shipping entirely, but I'm not that worried about it. I figured every order they get right now is very important to their continued operation.

Just to follow-up, my order arrived sometime last week (I was out of town and found the boxes on my front porch when I returned).

Just a quick update.

Ordered 4K 9mm on July 24 they shipped today. Supposed to be here by Friday but UPS is kind of slow here in the Summer months so we'll see.

The following just came across my Hornady Reloading FB feed...just a heads-up

Heads-up: X-treme Bullets...

After waiting three months for my 10mm cartridges that were part of a rebate from Cabelas I sent an email to X-treme bullets for an update...here's the response I just received.

On June 8, 2018, X-Treme Bullets, Inc. ("Company") filed for protection under Chapter 11 of the US Bankruptcy Code, initiating its bankruptcy case in the Bankruptcy Court for the District of Nevada, Case No. 18-50609. As such, the Company is precluded by law from paying any creditor's claims that arose prior to the start of the Company's bankruptcy case. Accordingly, all Cabela's rebates submitted prior to the initiation of the Company's bankruptcy case cannot be honored at this time and will be addressed through the resolution of the Company's bankruptcy case. We regret any inconvenience this has caused.

Chapter 11 is for "reorganization" but stay in business. Their suppliers and customers that are "owed" rebates or product get F'd as they are forced to settle for pennies on the dollars while secured debt holders get the best "deal"

Needless to say...don't buy X-treme bullets unless someone is dumping them for a good price! ...and make sure whoever you purchase them from actually has them in stock!

I posted this last week about my X-Treme order in the thread located here.
https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/surprises-in-my-box-of-xtremes.840339/#post-10907260

"I noticed on my last order that they came from the same location as Freedom (Idaho shipped thru Washington State) Ordered 7/24 arrived 8/2. I think it depends on where they are in a production cycle as to how fast things get shipped, but I order way in advance of when I need them anyway.

Only difference I noticed is that the 4K 9mm used to come in a plastic bucket in one box. This time they came in two boxes with 500 bullet boxes inside. I'll keep doing business with them as long as they are able to ship. Also, on this order I got free shipping!"

I don't know how long things will go on with X-Treme, but they do keep sending emails and product up-dates. That's a bum deal with the Cabela's rebates. Has anyone who is owed the rebate contacted Cabela's? That might be a problem too with their merger with Bass.

Received my order last week for 10,500 bullets that I got for half price thanks to a FB hookup. Took 3weeks to ship.

That would have been my first thought also...until you read this section in Xtreme's response:
Accordingly, all Cabela's rebates submitted prior to the initiation of the Company's bankruptcy case cannot be honored at this time and will be addressed through the resolution of the Company's bankruptcy case.

Meaning the "issues" isn't at Cabela's end. Xtreme received the money for the bullets, but is choosing not to honor the rebate that they offered as enticement to order from them in the first place

I've stopped using them because I can't get the 40's I wanted. Luckily I loaded up on 45's last year. They keep sending out the emails about "sales" but never have any items I want. Poor shipping anyways...next

Thanks for pointing that out, 9mmepiphany. The way I feel about it now is that at some point in the future, don't know when, they will sting me on an order. Don't know if I'd have recourse with my CC company but why take a chance?

I do like their 9mm but after all we've heard here I've started buying from RMR and setting up a set of dies for their plated bullets. I tried several coated bullets too but the smell when fired bothered me. I don't shoot indoors, but I wouldn't want to be around indoors if they were being used.

We are. I fully intend to produce everything someday. But we are a small business and we will grow as money allows. I could buy tons more machines on credit and make everything out there, but we all know how that works out in the end.

Understood, and my post was not intended as a criticism of you or RMR. Obviously, you guys have finite resources, and I assume you are targeting the highest-volume stuff first. For those of us looking for things that are lower-volume/niche goods, though, that means we have to look elsewhere.

FWIW, as Xtreme's problems continue and they have (apparently) dropped manufacture of the 220 40-cal bullets I was buying from them, I have shifted my purchasing to SNS. They have 220's in 40, but they are powder-coated and a different profile, so changing over has not been entirely without challenge. Still, I've bought a few thousand of them, and I think I'm getting the kinks worked out.

I am working on getting my plated bullet supplier to do a run of 200 grainers. I am not sure the stroke length of their headers will allow a 220 but I will ask.
