Here's the Springfield 1903 after cleanup, right before I closed the case & headed to the range Sunday.

It was ~35 degrees, real windy, and the Lake on the 100 yd range had moved in to about 40 yds. I still set up the target stand at 50 yds, but was in 6" of water there. I did not have chest waders with me, so opted to not walk out to 100yds!
Given that I was really unfamiliar with the ladder sight, I think I did ok. 5 shot bench sandbag grouping of just under 2 inches at 50yds. Repeated & kept 5 more shots in the same group, same target. I aimed 5" below POI using the peep sight at the lowest setting. Boy, that peep is small!

When I went to shoot the Mauser M48, it started "raining" in the range tunnel, from snow & ice melt thru the cement seams, so I packed it in.

Cleaning Cosmo

Same method I use on other Milsurps...

-Complete dissassembly.
-Wipe off all loose excess cosmo.
-Then use WD40 on metal & stock, to remove the rest.
-Then Murphy's oil soap.
-Followed by Formsbys.

Very nice rifle.

I've always wondered, would it be possible to take a pistol gripped '03 and add to it the peep rear sight of the '03A3?

Formsbys Oil Treatment.
I haven't used any strippers on any of my stocks. I prefer that original look vs. a total refinish (and yes, I'm lazy; I'd rather be shooting:D )
