Just got one of these for a decent price, however after closer inspection (after I'm already home, of course...) I notice that the hammer will still fall when the trigger is pulled when the safety is on. After doing a quick search on google it looks as though the part of the thumb safety that blocks the sear from moving is worn enough that the sear can still move and drop the hammer.

Since this is my first HP, I am not really comfortable doing the work myself. Anyone know the approx. time and cost to have a gunsmith fix it?

Thanks.

If you bought it from a dealer, take it back. It is a safety issue, most will remedy the situation at no cost to avoid any liability issues, and maintain goodwill with the customer.

That was my first idea, but didn't want the hassle (and cost) of going back to the gun show.
But...
It is now in working order. I detail stripped it to the point I could remove the safety, and cleaned everything good with some CLP. Upon assembly, I noticed that the safety lever was not put in all the way by the previous owner, so after getting it back together with the safety lever properly installed, it works just fine.

I'll post some pics when I get the chance, I think it is a good looking gun (some kind of paint finish, Duracoat or the like) so this will be a good shooter.

all is well now.
