How many members of this forum are currently working as Law Enforcement officers or in the Military? What firearms are you carrying for work/issue?

I am retired from the US Army. Currently working a a police officer in a small town in Southern Illinois.

Currently carry an HK USP .45 and a SW Model 36 as BUG. Colt R6920 (semi auto M4 type carbine w/16" barrel) in squad car.

Just received my Kimber Warrior on Friday. It will be my duty weapon when I've rung it out on the range and qualified with it.

Off duty I carry a Glock 36 and the SW 36 BUG.

Current military with several years as military law enforcement specialist.
First assignment: Colt 1911 .45ACP, M-14, Rem. 870
Last assignment: Beretta M-9, M-4.
Current assignment: Dell PC.

I'm a patrol officer in a small rural police department in Northwestern Germany. My issued service weapon which I carry on and off-duty is a HK P2000 V2 in a Safariland SLS holster. We also have access to HK MP5's if we need them.

Before that I was a watch commander in the German Federal Border Police on the German-Polish border. I carried a SIG-Sauer P225 then.

I would prefer to carry a BUG too... but unless you belong to a SWAT-type unit you won't be authorized to do that in my PD. :cuss:

I also have a privately owned SIG-Sauer P228 which I'm not allowed to carry anywhere... it's just my range/competition gun which I use for service pistol bullseye events and IPSC production class.

Regards,

Trooper

I am currently in law enforcement for an undisclosed Dept. and have been so for the last 3 years or more.

Issued Sig 229 in .40 S&W. Started with Sig 226 in .40 before specializing.

Off duty goes to a Sig 225 in 9mm since it's a nice warm spring coming up.

Occasional carry will be a Sig 228 in 9mm when attending special get togethers and I don't feel like carrying backup mags.

Backup pistol has not yet been determined, though leaning towards a Taurus Ultra Lite 85 in .38 Special.

Also considering for off duty a Springfield XD in 4 inch and POSSIBLY a subcompact in .40. (Off duty carry is not being regulated so single action is good to go, for now.) But the XD's are really just because I think they are cool. I really wish Sig would get off the crapper and get those new Sig Pro's out. (I've been dying to love a polymer for a while.) Glock didn't cut it, the subcompact XD 9mm, though nice, wasn't my cup of tea and in the wrong caliber. Reallly I should have kept it, but we were getting a new boss and he is into DAO stuff and.....well this has nothing to do with the thread. I'll shut up now. :D

Deputy Sheriff for one of the larger Central Georgia Sheriffs Departments.

Started out in 1992 with a small rural S.O. in Central Georgia, left LE for “other†not-so-related endeavors in 1996, returned to local LE in early 2003 when I went to work for a large PD in the Atlanta Metro Area before landing my current job where I was born and raised and I call home.

We are issued the Glock 22

Mil.

Usually an M16, which I prefer over the M4.

If I think I need something, I go over to the arms room and check out whatever I need. Qual'd or formerly qual'd on almost everything .50 cal and under.

USAF for the past 8 years and I'm re-enlisting in a few weeks.

I'm intel, they don't give me a gun.

former LE officer of 7 years from the San Francisco Bay Area, CA. taking the TCLEOSE exam in 2 weeks to reserve in Texas....transferring my California POST certificate to Texas.

LEO

On duty issue is a Glock 23 .40, off duty/backup is an issued Glock 27. I also have an 870 in the back of my patrol car till I can manage to acquire one of the dept Benelli semi's . Once my partner becomes our rangemaster he's gonna see about getting me qualified on my personally owned AR so I can carry that too. We have 2 MP5's and 2 AR's that senior guys have already snatched up.

Federal LEO, I carry a Glock 19 for duty and I am qualified with Rem. 870 for duty. Used to also carry H&K MP5, came in handy on narcotics busts.

I was also a FI, as a collateral duty, for 13-14 years until I pissed off a boss. I instructed pistol, revolver, rifle, shotgun and MP5.

In the past I have carried and qualified for duty with Glock 26, S&W 60, S&W 6906, S&W 66, Colt Border Patrol (yes when I was a BPA), Beretta 92SB and Beretta 92F, Steyr AUG, Ruger Mini 14, and, one or two others, all for duty.

All the best,
Glenn B

Former Army - Infantryman with the 25th ID.

Been a Peace Officer for almost 6 years now.
Duty weapon is a Browning Hi-Power in .40S&W.
Backup is a Kel-Tec P-3AT in .380ACP.
Soon as I can save up the cash I'm going to buy a Mossberg 590A1 for duty too.

Ex-Army officer. Currently an LEO (by Ohio law, Assistant Prosecutors are LEO). We're a "carry what you own" agency, so long as it is .38, .380, 9mm, or the now approved .40. I carry either a Glcok 19 or a Smith 649, depending on weather, manner of dress, and tasks for the day. (The 649 is my trial gun :D ).
