I have a 30S and XDS .45 that are both relatively new. The 30S had less than 100 rounds through it before our trip to the range today and the XDS had about 300. We put about 300 rounds through each, an were having FTE issues every 40 to 50 rounds. We also had a few FTF's, and the slide on the XDS would not stay open after the last round about 1/3 of the time. I made sure I wasn't limp wristing them, and am wondering if they just need to be broken in more, if it was the ammo (PMC 230 grain FMJRN) or if both are having issues. We also shot a new SA Mil Spec 1911, and it had 1 FTE with about 200 rounds through it.

My questions are how many rounds are necessary to break the XDS and 30S' in, and if anyone has had similar issues with PMC ammo.

First, did you clean them before going to the range?
sometimes packing grease is rather sticky stuff...if not removed, can cause your issues...
always clean & lightly lube a new firearm.

Check the mags also...might be maladjusted...which can cause some weird problems...

Big Shrek,

I did clean them. I'm going to send the XDS to SA to have them take a look. The LGS where I bought the 30S has a gun smith on site, and they asked me to being it by so he can take a look at it. Although it may be the ammo, from what the LGS told me that's unlikely.
