I am looking at getting either a Glock 19 or a Sig 226 and using it as the host for a sound suppressor. Provided everything is equal (sound suppressor, ammo, etc.), how much of a difference in sound is there between the suppressed Glock and suppressed Sig?

It seems like everyone says that the Sig is quieter, but is the difference night and day or is it hardly noticeable, or somewhere in between? Thanks.

ive always thought the glocks look sweet with those Thompson Machine Micro Suppressors

fwiw...the sig may be better for a big silencer as the glock sights are pretty low

The thing is that I like Glocks and they are nearly half the cost of the Sigs. Moreover, Glocks have much less expensive magazines and tons of aftermarket accessories. That aside, I do not want the Glock if, when suppressed it sounds like a freight train and the Sig sounds like a hybrid. I just don't have any good reference as to what each sounds like when suppressed. Thanks.

I've never heard the glock suppressed but my understanding is the Sig is still quieter and more reliable without a booster as apparently the 19 had some troubles(being a subcompact i guess?) I think both would be good with cans intended for each but in a head to head i saw the sig was a great host.

my Glock 30 is quieter than my Sig 220 through my Osprey. I didnt see that coming. Glocks have a longer time for lock-up so more gases are forced into the silencer than out the ejection port like an easier cycling pistol like Sig.

The sound is negligible between the two, and both will need a booster to run.

Lets say your talking a 9mm here, since its the most quiet centerfire pistol. If you like the G19/G17 so much more then id pick it. The $$$ you save verses the sig will net you some suppressor sights and a threaded barrel for the glock.

The only two suppressors worth using for either host pending they will only be used on this particular pistol and not a 3-lug SBR 9mm ar-15... is the osprey or tirant.

124 grain stays subsonic for me on my 4" threaded barrel Glock 26 with Osprey 45 can. 115 grain is right around the barrier, but mostly over and cracks. 147 and if you can find 158 grain are quiet but spendy. My Sig P220 doesnt need a booster as Sigs cycle easier than Glocks. I can shoot my 220 with my nonNielsen device 45 can and it cycles fine.
