Glocks with lead bullets?

Glock makes a point of stating not to shoot lead bullets. It is in your best interest to take their advice. If you want to shoot lead, get a M&P or XD or a conventional barrel for your Glock. Be safe as maybe the perceived saving of a little money is not worth the risk.

Hi RX.
Glock Manufacturing is a far better reputable source than me or the internet. I only stated my personal experience and opinion. I believe most gun manufacturers state that your warranty is void if you shoot reloads "period". That's reloaded copper or lead ammunition. Their reasons may be for liability or whatever they deem appropriate. I happen to look closely at my barrels during cleaning and have a very good idea as to how they react to various bullet materials. Keep in mind that I shoot virtually 95% my own reloads. In that experience and in talking to others (I deem knowledgeable sources) I feel shooting reloads in my Glocks are a safe and economically wise practice. I do listen to the opinions of others and then make up my own mind as to whether a practice or procedure is a safe one for me.

Robert,

Commercially loaded lead ammunition is available, and is also forbidden by Glock. Lead is uniquely an issue to this manufacturer.

Look, lots of people say no, lots of people say it's fine. Personally, given the data at hand, I think it makes more sense to buy a non polygonally rifled barrel to shoot lead out of. It's not that I disbelieve the guys that have had success with lead, it's simply that hard data from multiple sources seems to indicate that it is at the very least not a great idea. Additionally, in this case I think caution is advisable. I would much rather spend the extra coin and feel safer shooting lead than not do it and always be worried that something is going to go south at any moment.

That's just my take, so for you people that have had success shooting lead, don't take it as a personal affront or an attempt to discredit your success. I believe you, I just personally would not feel comfortable is all.

A 1" group at 20 yards is not impossible, not improbable, just difficult. A three shot group measured center to center can be done, I suspect so can one measured edge to edge. Multiple 1" groups are improbable.

Glock says DO NOT shoot lead bulleted cartriges through a factory barrel.
Says it right there in the manual.
Says it, not to irritate trhe customer, says it because the manufacturer has determined it is uinsafe to do so using their barrel design.
Testing has proven the most common form of catastrophic failure in Glock pistols almost ALWAYS involves the use of reloaded, and especially lead bullet cartridges.
Someone will ALWAYS jump into one of these threads and blabber on how he shoots thousands of rounds of lead bullet cartridges in his factory Glock barrel with no problem and nary a bit of documented evidence to back up the statement...
Here's my take on the matter.
You want to shoot lead bullet cartridges in a Glock.
Invest in a decent aftermarket barrel rifled and certified OK to use with lead bullet cartridges.
No problems, no worries, end of discussion.
