My class was mostly boring, since I went in well-prepared, but it did provide some info that I wasn't aware of. An 8hr class + range qualify is required.
Periodically during the class, the instructor would ask "pop-quiz" type questions. I felt kinda bad answering most of them while the rest of the class was silent, but whatever. The videos were heavy on the cheese, but I guess it was easier than the instructor lecturing for 8 solid hours.
I wasn't a fan of the written test. It was half multiple-choice and half true-false. The multiple choice was stupid simple, but several of the true-false questions were tricky, and somewhat misleading. The true-false section was my worst part of the entire class.
Range qualifying was interesting. The competency some of those people had with a pistol was downright scary. They all shot well enough to pass, but there were a few that I would have definitely recommended more range time before carrying. I did get some "good shooting" comments from the classmates on my somewhat-ragged X-ring hole, though I did disappoint myself by pulling one shot center-low in the 8 ring during the double-action 20-yard shot.
Overall, it was a good experience, and I'd recommend it again. But I'm glad the renewal won't take nearly as long... 10 hours (after breaks) makes for a long day.
