Saturday was the first time I have ever shot at golf balls (22lr). I AM HOOKED!. What a neat way to target shoot, using the laser range finder and adjusting for the new range each time you hit the ball again. I also tried out a new metal target that I was shooting @ 250-yards. I work a lot and the only range close to me that I know of is paper target only (TN state range close to Nashville). I drove 3 hours to get to this one (close to Knoxville).

I live about a block and half away from the municipal golf course. The golfers I happen across are often obnoxious, and when they slice one into someone's yard and ding a new car they make a quick getaway rather than being a man and fessing up.

Obviously not all golfers are like that, but we usually only have contact with jerks.

Shooting golf balls sounds interesting, I was thinking 20 gauge and hitting them like clay pigeons: if I could just set up a little down range of the tee.

Seriously though, it sounds like fun. I could collect the balls that end up in the gutter down where I walk my dog and I would have plenty of targets. No one ever picks up those lost balls anyway.

I tee off @ 25-yards. It usually takes a few hits to get it to the hundred yard range. It kind of like billiards, If your shot is a little left of center, the ball goes to the right letting you know you where off a bit.

We set them out on tees at 50 or more yds and start from there.

I'll set up balls on tees in 2 groups of 5. My kids will compete to see how many shots with iron sights it takes them to hit 5 balls off the tee. 50 yds with a scope isn't much of a challenge anymore. 100 yds with a scope is better.

I had to laugh, it took me a moment to catch on to what you were discussing, I am a little dense this morning.

Good use for golf balls. It makes me think of an old episode of the Beverly Hillbillies where Jed and Jethro were invited to go shoot a round of golf with some people. They decided to pack a shotgun as I recall.

I have never understood the game of golf, tried it a few times with some friends, decided I already had enough frustration in my life without adding that. For those of you who enjoy the game, more power to you.

I told my two sons that as I get older, if I ever do take up the game of golf that they are to do all of us a favor and just shoot me in the head.:p

Like you I tried it a few times, actually wasn't that bad, however, it ain't my cup-a-joe.

Golf is FLOG spelled backwards. Also, golf is a nice walk through a well manicured park ruined by a little white ball.

Golf isn't so bad. I used to golf a lot before I started shooting as much as I do. I found I was a better shooter than a golfer so I refocused my energies. Now I only play 2-3 rounds per year. and shoot 2-3000 rounds per year.

I have heard that

a grenade launcher for an AR or an AK will fling golf balls very impressive distances.
Tennis balls make nice targets with a hand gun. Just not on rocky ground.

Same here. I keep wanting to actually take some golf lessons so I can get back out there and not embarass myself, but I keep spending that money on ammo.
