I've been carrying a CCW daily for about 12 years, but the one place I go regularly where I never carry is playing golf. It's not easy to swing a golf club with a concealed weapon on you. An ankle holster is no good, because you usually are wearing shorts. I play regularly with the local county sheriff and another LEO, and they don't carry on the course either. Just wondering if you carry while playing golf, or do you take the weapon off.:)

I carried last time I went to the driving range. Nobody noticed, and it didn't impede my (very poor) swing. Of course, I had relatively heavy clothing on since it was less than 60 degrees out that night. I found that keeping from printing helped me keep my back straight, which helped my swing a bit.

On one occasion while playing golf with the sheriff, he went across the road to deal with a domestic dispute that was taking place at a house right next to the golf course. He went up to the house with his badge out, and got them to quiet down, and he was unarmed. Kind of like Andy Taylor.:D

I've never seen any one carry a gun on the course, but it really chips my paint to see some guy on the tee box with his cell phone ringing.

If you're that busy, you're too busy to concentrate on your game.

There was one time I wished I had a gun. A rabid fox was terrifying every one on the links. We gave it a wide berth and hoped all others did the same.

carry on the Golf course?? yup sure do...Lucky for me that I live about 5 minutes from a really nice course...I dont really worry about people but because of the location ( in the middle of nowhere!) wild animals have been a concern in the past (wild dog packs are not uncommon in NC)...Noone has ever noticed my p-32 or p3at in my pocket...They have noticed that I suck at GOLF!!! :D

i don't now, but i plan on getting something smaller to keep in a pocket of the cargo shorts i usually use for golfing. that thing poking me in the ribs in not very comfy. and i don't need anything else to make my swing worse than it already is. i feel like a butcher out there i slice so much.

I carry on the course all the time. Cargo pocketed shorts, no problem at all. It's quite easy once you get used to it. Mine is a Kel-Tec P32 so the weight is minimal, like a pocket full of change.

Carry to and from.

But when on the course the pistola goes into a pocket in my bag.

I usually take a snake beater PW with me into the brush when looking for my partners golfball.

I never loose golfballs out in the desert.:neener:

Thanks for all the replies. I guess the biggest threat on a golf course seems to be animals. Although I've had many confrontations with irate golfers on the course, none has deteriorated to the point where I would have drawn a weapon. I have seen aligators while playing in Florida, but I never felt threatened by them. Here in Maine, we see fox and an occasional bobcat. I suppose they could be dangerous under the right cercumstances, although they usually run away.

Don't forget-you usually have a nice set of impact weapons when you're on a golf course.

I was joking, alligators are protected animals a guy shot one in an apartment pond a while back cause he was afraid for the children and got in deep doo doo with Fish & wildlife Dept. They will come out and remove them if it's a threat. They do have alligator hunting now but it's very limited with a lottery for applicants.

At the local muni courses, I typically carry one in a Thunderwear pouch. Never thought about it much until one day I was playing the twilight fee special after work and I thought to myself "here I am out on the 4th hole, hundreds of yards from help and completely concealed from anyone else by trees." I figured it would be the perfect place for a mugging, especially since the course next to a city park where a lot of homeys like to hang out.

Something to think about...

The last bit of public gunplay we had here in Hawaii was in the parking lot of a local golf course. Two factions from the local gambling house protection services confronted each other and quickly devolved their communications method from verbal confrontation to gunfire. The evening news showed pictures of pro-shop windows with holes. End result: two people dead, one critical in hospital, three arrested.

Guns involved were apparently two .380's and one .22. Folks involved apparently had some 37 convictions between them ranging from murder to terroristic threatening. Not to mention the fact that all were employed at an illegal job (security for gambling house) which supports an illegal industry (gambling houses).

I'm thinking the BG's with the .380's didn't have to wait the two weeks I am having to wait before picking up my new PPK/S from the gun shop.
