hey all
i have a super black hawk 44 mag and the grips feel way too small for my hand,
any one have a good suggestions for grips that will help control from recoil

thnks

There are four different grip frames on currently-available Ruger .44 single actions. One (the anniversary model might be called "Blackhawk".)

So, to start with, which do you have?

Do you have a squareback trigger guard or a Hunter model? A Bisley or Bisley Hunter? Or a round trigger guard on a 4 5/8" or 5 1/2" barrel model?

it is a new model super blackhawk and has the square trigger guard
thanks

Part of the key to these is allowing the gun to roll and not fighting back the recoil. Rubbers often don't allow this like wooden ones do. Just something to consider.

This company makes made to measure (from a traced outline of your hand) stocks for revolvers, including this one. If you fill in the area behind the square backed trigger guard, it will be less likely to bark the first knuckle of your support hand and give the gun a more "straight back" recoil.

I had Hogue Grips on mine and went back to the originals. I didn't like the damage it did to the bottom of the handle on my gun.

Herrett's are what I had on mine, and I did like them. They filled in behind the flat of the trigger guard, and no more band-aids!

Ugly as they are, the Pachmyer grips for the Super Blackhawk are the best grips I've used from a performance perspective. No, the gun doesn't roll up as much, but you won't need it with those grips.
