What's the best (or worst) deal you've ever had (or witnessed) at a gun show?

I recently watched, mouth agape, as a guy bought a Remington 710 with two mags for 575 bucks. It was everything I could do not to break up the deal.

I know, I know...not my business...

edited to add, it was USED, too!

I've only actually bought one gun at a gun show (last week at that!). It was a Win. Mod 190 (semi-auto .22lr). The one I picked (the guy had 2) was the less expensive and I talked him down a few bucks. I took it to the range the next day with a brick of Federal 36gr copper plated hollow points. It only fired maybe once for every 5-8 pulls of the trigger. I went directly back to the gun show, found the guy, and he offered to refund, or trade for the other .22 he had. I took the trade, immediatly went out in the desert to test fire it, and it worked great. Glad he was sensible enough to be reasonable (I was very polite, even as I expressed my initial displeasure with the first gun). Not really a "bad deal" but a bit frustrating until I got it sorted.

Best deal
Short Magazine Lee Enfield No 1 Mk I*** made in 1908 or so, modified up to 1916 standards but still had the volley sights. Paid about the same for it that I would have paid for a WW II milsurp at the time (About $175). It was my first rifle. It included a bayonet too.

Worst Deal
Dunno, kept on walking by. Maybe a S&W model 27 or 28 that needed to be retimed etc. It sold for about $300 to $350 and needed quite a bit of work.

Enfield Jungle carbine and Wards 16 gauge pump both for $45

Last gunshow I saw a nickled colt lightning revolver that looked like it had been in a bilge for 90 years $1000. This gun in excellent condition
goes for $350 tops. It was all I could do to withhold my guffaws.

Worst : I bought a brand new, in the box Rossi Puma in .45 Colt. It had all the papers, warrenty cards, everything. Never been used. It was an early pre-safety gun. When I went to shoot it I found out why it was still NIB. It wouldn't feed any kind of ammo. Not even factory ammo. None.

I paid a good price for it in a legal private sale, but after shipping and repair costs I ended up paying more for it than a new one would have cost.

Best: I saw this one. A Remington Nylon 66 in beautiful shape for much less than a C note. I bought the Rossi as second choice to the Remington. While I discussed the pro and cons of it sombody else grabbed it.

The worst I've seen was a guy buying a Norinco SKS for $450 because it was "pre-ban and could have a bayonet." I might have pointed him to a table full of Yugos, but the guy was so happy with his "new" gun, I couldn't do it. Ignorance is bliss.
