Gun stores closing.

Bud's sent an email last night stating their Lexington KY retail store would be closed today (Saturday) for deep cleaning, restocking and to give the employees some rest. They stated they anticipate a continued high level of traffic on Monday so they want to prepare for it. Interesting, since Saturday is usually their busiest day and the only day people who are still working can come in.

well in posting # 32, i reported about my LGS...

i just came back from there.......there was a LOOOONG line all the way down the street......i made a U-Turn, and came back home....lol

i have to go there Tuesday to pick up my new Canik, and i'll be there BEFORE the doors open (like today i was early, but apparently not early enough), and i will stand at the door, to try to be among the first few that get inside......lol

The LGS around here are still open but with reduced hours and signs that if you are coughing or such go home for now.
This is indeed a serious threat but an extreme overabundance of caution will hopefully keep hospitals from being inundated to the point of being useless. Hopefully the country can strike a balance that is best for all. Remember we are in uncharted territory so far and still learning about this virus.

I don't think this is the time for a cavalier attitude about public health. I personally don't feel expendable. Hopefully, we won't lose too many here as I know we have an aged population of members.

Back on topic, AIM Surplus has closed their storefront to the public, although internet sales continue at this point.

Well my regular LGS just posted no more gun sales due to a 6 hour wait period for processing. Just ammo and accessories only and those already waiting for pick up

Keep it gun-related, folks. I'm sure there's a forum somewhere that allows members to get into involved debates about the country's response to the global pandemic, but here posts must be firearms related.

Just left on of my LGS.... No wait at the range. Plenty of ammo. There is a wait to get into the showroom which is out out the door. Passerbies might take a pic and post it on a gun forum with the assumption that the store is busier than usual; however, the one and only reason the line is out the door is because they're only allowing a limited number of people allowed into the showroom at one time...

I am grateful that the range is open as it's literally the one and only recreational activity left to do. Everything else is closed.

In Oregon it used to take 10 minutes to 30 if the state police were busy. State police in Oregon do the background checks. The waiting time for background checks was 2 days middle of last week. People have been dialing 911 because they don't have toilet paper. I feel sorry for the cops right now.

At least four large Memphis gun businesses are open: Guns And Ammo, and the shop/range ShootPointBlank. Both Academy Sports also.
Note: these are the only four which I've checked.

The better news: two days ago I visited Academy Sports in Collierville and at least (roughly) 1/3 of the ammo was available, even some of the lowest-priced, various chamberings. Ammo prices seemed quite normal.

*The NY Times and Wash. Post are our back up for toilet paper in two weeks. :)

On the bright side, at least they're still able to earn a paycheck unlike most working Americans.

Glad there's still open to process background checks even though I know the extra wait sucks.

Well for those of you in Ohio sportsman den closed yesterday to keep people away from each other. Here is a video link to the owner of fin feather fur on the reason he closed. Lines were 200-300 people deep for a week at most of his stores. After walking into cabelas and seeing groups of what appeared to be families waiting on guns and ammo and fin feather fur stance on this I’ll make the extra drive to buy from then over the shorter drive to Cabelas.

All in NY shut by executive order (non essential business). I agree with Huntsman....I don't know anyone,(and I know a lot of hunters/shooters) who are concerned, at any given time we have plenty of ammo esp. for this time of year, and will just ride it out. I would have liked to have gotten a few boxes of .45 acp for my newish Colt, but that is because I am still trying to get out on a weekly basis with it to build my confidence. On the plus side, I have everything to reload for it and a load worked up. I will crank out a box of em today.

I live a couple of miles from the "Fin" and fully understand and support their reasoning. This may seem harsh to some but it's my opinion that if you haven't got your gun(s) and/or ammunition by now, you probably don't deserve any. No need to put any employee's or customer's health at risk just because you waited until the last minute to act.

There are three applicable questions:
1. is a state shut down mandated, if yes, go to 2, if no go to 3
2. if a state shut down is mandated, is a gun shop considered a critical business and thus exempt from the mandate. If yes, go to 3, if no, shut down.
3. is the well being and safety of the employees and customers enhance by shutting down? This is significantly impacted by whether or not the employees will be paid. The modified unemployment rules make people exposed and tested, or told by doctor to get tested can get immediate unemployment. Not so for everyone else.

Where I work, we are staying open for the benefit of the employees, as most will be 100% screwed if they lose their pay checks and will not be able to pay to keep their health insurance.

People working for the government or union shops are not subject to this stress and don't seem to get that most private sector employers are faced with this dynamic.

How can so many be in need? You got a gun and some ammo ride it out with what you got.

I get that there’s a lack of respect or trust for .Gov and media reports but the time to buy was two weeks ago,if you got caught flatfooted let it be a lesson.

it’s time to hunker down and ride it out.
When I saw pictures and video of I believe the Boardman ohio store there was a few hundred people and most looked like they were shopping at Walmart. Pajama pants, hoodies, hipster looking millennials.

Well another bit the dust today. The store I was telling everyone about Lake Erie Arms keeps saying they are glad they are an essential business and that they are still open and have plenty of ammo. I have never been in there because it seems to be just a big AR/operator wanna be fest, but I have never been there and thought about going. Well not after taking advantage of people during a time of panic.

On a crazier note. It seems that the criminals are taking advantage of the COVID virus. I was working my grocery store gig last night and walked up front from the back breakroom and was notified by customers two guys were in the parking lot shooting at each other. I guess someone robbed the dollar store across the road and was wearing a surgical mask. Things are getting crazy.

Looks like it's time to take the overstock to the shop and put it on consignment. Time to thin the herd anyway.
