Well, I've been carrying for a good while now. I don't expect it to happen, but...

I know there are several others that have "something" with them, too.

Mark.

If I remember my Aquinas correctly, he had no problem with self-defense. As a matter of fact, he originated the just war doctrine.
The Official Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church (specifically Part 3, Section II, Chapter 2, Article V, Paragraphs 2264-2265) states that not only do we have a right but a GRAVE duty to defend ourselves and other innocent individuals from death & serious bodily injury. A grave duty needs to be performed with the BEST means possible otherwise it can not be considered to be a GRAVE duty and in MOST cases, the BEST means of defense will be with a firearm.

Plus, Jesus, Himself, instructed His followers to protect themselves when He encouraged them to sell their outer garments in order to buy a sword (Luke 22:36-38; cf. 2 Corinthians 11:26-27 -- a plain reading of the passage indicates that Jesus approved of self-defense). Here the "sword" (Greek: maxairan) is a dagger or short sword that belonged to the Jewish traveler's equipment as protection against robbers and wild animals. Pretty much the equilavent of what a handgun is today.

When we were allowed conceled carry in Kansas, I asked our priest (also take him fishing regulary) if he had a problem with carry at mass. He said it would be ok.

If that happened im my church, he would expect to receive fire from my son & I, as well as 2 other guys.
