I've been loading my 223 Rem (55gr FMJs and 69 gr SMKs) with H335 and have been very happy with the results, but have been unable to get any powder locally. Even when I did a group buy with some buddies, we were unable to score an 8 lb. keg of H335.

So today I took the advise of the reloading dept. manager at Cabellas and picked up a couple pounds of H322.

Looking at my manuals, it appears to be pretty darn close to Reloader 7, but a fair bit faster than H335 or W748.

23 gr. of H322 behind the 55 gr FMJs is the slowest shooting powder tabulated in Modern Reloading :(

but oddly, they list the same charge of 23 gr. as the max. for a 70 gr. Jacketed, making it the third fastest shooting powder for these weight pills.

Any body out there having good performance with H322 in these same bullet weights?

Care to share your loads.

322 does fine in my 150gr slug loads in my X39 Mini30. it seems tighter groups with them than the other powder 680 which does better with 123-125gr slugs.
funny how powders can be suited to a narrow range of application ain't it?

Ya know, every body says AA1680 is THEE x39 powder....

and all of my x39 reloading has been done with it (accept for using 2400 on some cast).

but I've yet to get what I would call "impressive" results.

I keep chalking it up to the std. AK sights on my Saiga, or just me being lame...

but I'm beginning to wonder

I use H322 in my 14" 223 Contender at the recommended starting load using 50gr Noslers and is very accurate.
When H322 was developed, it was THE benchrest powder to use in the 222 size cases for many years.
It should be superb in the shorter barreled AR style firearms with 55gr bullets, but of course one should be a bit more cautious using the heavier bullets.
I'm quite sure you'll be happy with your choice.

I'm loading 22.1 grains of H322 behind 55gr in 223. Works wonderfully.

My Lee Modern 2nd Edition has 21.0 start and 23.0 max for H322 and 55gr.

I have not tried 70 gr but 23.0 is the max listed for both. I prefer to stay safely between the min and max with my loads.
