I have some ammo stored, and I would like to say that I havnt cut down.... but I have. My 5.56 is running "low" (For Me) and I've taken the AR less. I have shot some 7.62x39 recently and have replaced what I shot for reasonable cost.....

I'm actually considering selling some .22lr and 9mm as there are some guns I might like to have.... Should I?

I haven't been shooting but it's only because I have been working a lot of overtime the past 6 months and really haven't had the time or energy to go shooting. Hopefully I will have a chance with vacation time coming up in a couple of weeks.

On the bright side I still have plenty of ammo on hand to go shooting with.

I've been shooting more, but that's because this is the first time in 4 years in which I've had plenty of time and a place to go shooting.

I have decreased the frequency of my shooting due to the shortage of ammo and insane pricing of whats available. I also haven't done any 3-Gun or IDPA events ever since January.

Before December, I would shoot at least once a week. Now, I'm lucky if I can afford to go every 2 weeks.

Sitting very good on ammo. I to stocked up over the last 3 years. That said I have not gone as much as in years past due to our to gun ranges being in a flood plane have been closed due to the flooding the last couple of months. I have a sand pit 40 miles away I can shoot at but only on Sundays when they are not dredging.

What ammo shortage?

I was caught a little short the last shortage. I got down to the last 10,000 small rifle primers. I said that won't happen again.
So when it looked like there were enough American people dumb enough to elect obama I started stocking up.

This shortage means nothing to my friends and I. We shoot all we want.

Actually I've been shooting almost every day in the last couple weeks (home range).

Just shot a Browning Hi-Power 40 S&W I bought a couple hours ago. Nice gun. :)

Now the heat has cut down a little on my shooting.

I cut back on .223 and .30-06. I pulled out a .45 cal muzzleloading rifle and pistol I haven't shot in over 30 years and am having a hoot shooting the h*ll out of them. #11 caps and 777 powder is available and I cast the .445 balls so shooting is super cheap. I adapt, innovate, and shoot! :neener:
I have cut back 50% on everything but blackpowder

I don't reload but I haven't stopped shooting. I had a couple too many 9mm pistols so I traded them in and got another .45 and a 44 mag. I've been shooting alot but mainly just those two calibers. I have been able to find 44 ammo available and decently priced. I have quit shooting 9mm, 223, and 22. I have some ammo but can't easily replace it. I've found that although 44 ammo is more expensive I shoot way less ammo in a 1-2 hour period than I do the others I mentioned, and I have just as much fun.

Shot for the first time since the shortage this past weekend. The calibers I like are just now coming back on the shelves on a semi consistent basis.

I've been waiting two months on primers. Anything I shoot up right now, I can't replace. Times being what they are, it's not a good time to be without plenty of ammo.

Not at all, having stored heaps of ammo. Began in early '08. Nobody ever announces just When a psycho will "go ballistic", or where.:(

The problem now is being unable to keep the shooting glasses dry enough to see through them for more than thirty seconds.

I don't shoot that much, but have cut back almost exclusively to shooting at live targets. Either hunting or getting rid of pests. I had a couple of open boxes of 500 or 333 twenty-two long rifle rounds before the 2008 election and I haven't used those up yet. I bought a box of .22 bird shot during the previous shortage and paid about $13 for a box of (I think) 50. That may be a normal price. I hadn't bought any in 40 years when it was less than a dollar a box.

I've spent more time waiting in line to get ammo than I have at the range shooting it. I no longer shoot USPSA matches due to a lack of ammo. There is not enough around to replace what I would use in a match and practice sessions. It takes 24 hours waiting in line just to get a case of 9mm put together for a mat h and one practice session. Less if 100 count or larger boxes show up. And yes I got caught short. Won't happen again though. Yes I should be reloading and will at some point but right now I'm slowly building up a base level of supplies in powder, primers, brass and bullets.

BTW what do you folks think of xm193 @$299.99 per 500. One LGS has it by the case with no limit on how many you can buy.

In the 1960s, when the antis were talking about banning or taxing ammo, I made a point of keeping a year's supply in reserve.

In 1968, when ammo sales were restricted to FFLs and ammo sales were logged in a bpund book, I developed a habit of buying cartons of ten boxes rather than single boxes.

In the 1980s, when the antis were talking about banning or taxing ammo again, I made a point of keeping five year's supply (esp. .22LR, 12ga and .30-30) in reserve.

In the 2000s when I was involved in modern and vintage military matches at the local club, I discovered that supplies of .45 ACP and .30 Carbine could be spotty: apparently manufacturers based their manufacture on last year's sales, and apparently did not factor CMP sales of M1 Carbines into their production projections or the uptick in CMP matches. SO I learned to lay in a two years' supply for each gun I used when prices were low and availibility was high. And buying through Wideners and driving out to pickup. I also bought a CZ52 (2004) and a 91/30 (2008) since 7.62x25 and 7.62x54R ammo was always cheap and available, and even there I laid in enough for at least two seasons.

Long story short: Ammo shortage? What ammo shortage? (gloat, gloat)

(I can reload 7.63 Mauser, .38 Spl, .45 AutoRim, .30-30, 6.5mm Carcano, .303 Brit, .30 Carbine the classic Lee Loader way if necessary).

Center fire anything has been reduced for me. I shoot my air guns more and my black powder stinky sticks.
With muzzle loaders, because of the slow reloading process,I'm at the range the same amount, but it seems like I got a lot of shooting done.Quality over quantity now I guess.

I stopped for a while, but recently started back up. I have just had to get up and go to Academy in the mornings. You can get ammo, but you have to stand in line with the same "old guys" that are there every morning an hour before the store opens.

But I have been able to get some .22 and 9mm. I just had to take the time and be a few mins late to work to get some to shoot.

I voted "no" only because the ammunition/component storage has not slowed me down.. I saw the writing on the wall and started laying in supplies in 2010 when prices returned to reasonable levels. (I am not a Boy Scout but their motto, "Be prepared", works for me!)

In actuality, I have been shooting a bit less due to other constraints on my time. For instance, I am in France as I write this and cannot shoot anything. Also, we are doing some major construction upgrades on the farm so time is short..

The problem can be for those which have rifles which are 'in'. Over the last 2-5 weeks, these prices have been consistent, for those with rifles not considered glamourous:
7.62x39- .25/rd.
5.45x39- .18/rd.
7.62x54R- .20/rd. Quotes from "Gunbot.com".

Shooting as usual

My shooting sessions haven't changed, but I am a long time reloader. I had good stocks when the shortages started and a great LGs that has kept me supplied with all the components and powder I needed. I have to admit the LGs got fed up with the guys doing the rounds to all the LGs every week and he started to hold back his inventory. When he gets stock, he calls his regular customers. Only after ensures that his regular customer base is oK will he put items out on the shelf.
Prices have been great all the way through this trying time and I have to say that the LGS has guaranteed his future business with myself and lots of others!
So, Yep, Been shooting as much as ever!

I stocked up but I still shoot far less than I did. But then I was shooting 2000-3000 rounds a week for a long time. I just can't find that much ammo to shoot and I don't reload. I did save a bunch of brass thinking I would eventually learn to reload. But I also had to move and I can't walk out my front door and shoot now. Heck I didn't even walk outside to shoot a lot of the time. I sat in my chair and shot out the front door. :) In the winter I would stand by the sliding glass door and open it just enough to get the barrel out and shoot from the comfort of my warm house. I do have a lot of windows BTW so I can see if anyone might happen to come by on foot - which is very unlikely anyway since my neighbor moved away.

I have a good bit of ammo but I could shoot it all up quick if I tried. I just worry about being able to replace what I shoot and I don't want to be without ever.

I like the thrill of the hunt for ammo I think and have maintained about 500 rounds fired per month. I replace what I shoot but I have also paid a premium at times.
